She turned around and said, “T-They asked me to go to another pack and treat some of their relatives. I refused p>

After hearing that, I didn’t know what to say. For some reason, I felt like there was more to the story than she was telling me.

I walked up to her and hugged her.

“Is that it? Just about treatment? Do you want to go?” I asked.

She turned around and hugged me back. “No, Ava. They have their own doctors. They don’t need me at all. I want to be with you forever p>

I smiled and embraced her tighter. “I know. You’re the best mom in the world p>

The next day, I made it to university on time. I attended my classes and felt like my days were slowly returning to normal.

“We are going to visit Doctor Levi today. He’s epsilon in rank. He can treat wolves,” Abigail reminded me.

“Okay,” I replied.

Debra sent a text.

“Luke resumed basketball practice today. It’s a practice match. Let’s root for him. Are you all in p>

I looked at Abigail; she had also received the same text from Debra.

“We’re rooting for him,” I said to Abigail.

“Are you sure?” she asked, studying me carefully.

I understood why she was asking. Both teams would be on the court.

“I’m sure. He got hurt because of me. I should at least cheer for him p>

“Okay, let’s go then p>

We both headed to the basketball court. I noticed girls looking at me as if I had committed some sin.

I spotted Debra sitting on a staircase near the field. Many students had gathered to watch the practice match and took their seats in the audience area. Abigail and I made our way to Debra. She looked at us and patted the space next to her.

“Sit down. Chips?” she offered.

We sat down and grabbed a packet of chips from her.

I noticed Luke pushing the ball into the basket. I clapped when I saw that he looked perfectly fine.

My gaze shifted to the other team, wearing black jerseys. My attention was drawn to a boy who grabbed the ball, surrounded by the opposing team. He continued forward without fear and eventually jumped, dunking the ball into the basket.

“IAN. IAN. IAN p>

The girls began to cheer for him. I quickly averted my gaze from him.

During the match, I heard someone calling my name.

“Hey! Ava p>

Stephen was also practicing with the Black Diamond team.

I looked at him, and he waved at me from the court.

Everyone noticed and turned toward me in surprise, making me feel awkward.

Both Ian and Luke’s eyes also fell on me. One of them looked pleased, while the other seemed annoyed, as if my presence bothered him.
