Ava glanced at the students passing by and wondered why they weren’t heading to watch the match.

Then she realized not everyone could get tickets. All had sold out in less than twenty minutes, so many didn’t have the chance to buy one.

Ava remembered Luke had reserved front-row seats for her and her friends in advance.

Today was an important match not only for Luke but also for his brothers. She didn’t know who to root for. Luke was her close friend, and Stephen was her brother.

She had known Luke a long time. He had come into her life and supported her when no other boy was there. Because of him, most people avoided bullying her. He was her friend when she used to be a nerd.

She reached the basketball court and paused. Many people were already seated. She looked around and spotted Abigail and Debra waving at her.

She walked over. They patted the seat between them for her. She sat down and sighed.

“You’re late,” Debra said.

“I know, I know,” Ava murmured.

She glanced at the scoreboard showing the current game status. Team Black Diamond had already scored.

Her gaze shifted slowly to the players.

She saw Stephen giving his best on the court. She smiled at him. They’d never talked about basketball, but it looked like he was very passionate about the game—or maybe it was just the final match, so he was giving it his all.

She waved at him with a smile. He smiled back, then focused on the match.

“Who are you rooting for today?” Debra asked Ava.
