She rubbed her upper back with the back of her hand and walked over to the dressing table. Turning her back to the mirror, she rolled up her shirt to see her back.
She shut her eyes when she saw the scars, spreading across her skin like tree branches. The pain surged again.
She bit her bottom lip and let out a shaky breath.

No matter how much she wanted to forget about the rejection, the pain and the scars would never let her.
Trying to ignore the ache, she went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Looking around the bathroom, a small smile formed on her lips.
She stepped into the bathtub after removing her clothes.
As the warm water touched her skin, a wave of relief spread across her back. She felt grateful to Gamma Harper, who had considered so many details for her. The way he had arranged everything made it feel as if she were his own daughter.
