Chapter 25:

“My daughter has just turned eighteen. I believe she will find her mate soon. How can you all even think about it? It’s not possible!” she exclaimed.

I walked over to my mother and asked, “What happened, Mom p>

She was taken aback as she looked at me, but then she grabbed my hand. “Bow to your Alpha and Luna. We are leaving now,” she said with a hushed tone.

I bowed to Alpha Martin and Luna Carolina in confusion. I glanced at Gamma Harper, who was also present.

“If you want this, then okay. We won’t force you,” Alpha Martin said to my mother. Luna Carolina looked upset. She turned to me and said, “Come here again p>

I nodded in response. My mother bowed to Alpha and Luna before quickly dragging me outside the pack house.

“Mom, what’s wrong?” I asked.

“Nothing. You don’t have to know,” she replied.

I was about to call for a cab when a guard approached to inform us that Alpha had instructed his driver to take us home.

It was already nighttime, so my mother decided to accept his offer to return home in Alpha’s car.

The driver opened the back door for us. My mother got in, but when I was about to follow her, I looked back at the pack house for the last time.

As I glanced up, my eyes froze.

Ian was standing on the second-floor balcony. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, and three buttons on his shirt were undone. Leaning against the railing, he was smoking a cigarette.

But the most significant thing was that he was looking at me.

I felt my breath catch in my throat. He didn’t break eye contact as he puffed out smoke.

When I heard my mother’s voice, I immediately looked away from him.

I quickly got into the car. As soon as the driver closed the door, I shut my eyes.

My heart was pounding so loudly I was sure my mother could hear it. I tried to calm myself.

“No, no. I can’t think about him. He rejected me. He never missed an opportunity to hurt my feelings. There is nothing between us. He broke our mate bond the moment he learned about it. The way he moved on, I’ll have to do the same. I can’t stay like this forever.” I reminded myself.

As I arrived home, I noticed that my mother seemed to be growing anxious.

I held her hand and asked, “What are you hiding from me, Mom?” She stroked my hair and replied, “You don’t have to know about it, Ava p>

“But, Mom, I heard you talking about me p>

She looked away from me. I noticed her cheeks flushed. I had never seen my mother avoid my gaze before. “Mom p>

“Ava, can you please not ask me about it? It’s just something they proposed, and I disagreed. That’s it p>

“What did they propose?” I asked, my eyes wide.
