Ava lost her composure. She turned around to yell at him, but gasped when she found him even closer than before.

She looked into his eyes, clenching her jaw. His handsome face, with that wicked grin, looked sinful to her. Ian noticed her angry look and asked, “What? The nerd’s getting mad p>

“Let me leave this room,” she murmured.

“I have no interest in you either. But how dare you speak to me like that in front of others? Just because your mom helped mine in the past and my parents invited you to dinner, that doesn’t mean you’re going to start acting like you’re entitled. I know how to cut someone down to size,” he said coldly.

Ava stared at him, his words hitting her like daggers. He was talking to her with such a rude tone, as if she were his enemy. She did speak back to him, but wasn’t it his fault? Why did he throw the ball at her in the first place?

Ian’s eyes stayed fixed on her as he tried to read her expression. He was stunned that, instead of feeling disgusted by the closeness, he felt something entirely different. In fact, he found her… interesting.

His gaze drifted to her glasses, then to her wet cheeks. He wondered how she would look without them, how her face would appear if it wasn’t half-covered by the large frames.

Ava lifted her head to look at him. She felt a strange calm as she watched him step away.

Ava was shocked by his words. She realized her phone was nowhere to be found. She recalled that when Ian dragged her, her phone had fallen to the floor.
