Chapter 63
Chapter 63:
Ava listened closely as Stephen spoke, admiring how sensible he was. It was clear that he genuinely cared for his father.
While thinking about it, her attention was drawn to someone staring at her. She noticed a girl approach Ian, attempting to sit on his lap, but he pushed her away.
Ian’s gaze remained fixed on Ava.
Feeling uneasy, she quickly looked away from him and turned to Stephen. “Why is Ian staring at me? After everything he did, is there still anything left p>
Stephen glanced in Ian’s direction. It was clear that Ian was still staring at Ava. He couldn’t understand what was going on with him. Over the past few days, Ian had been acting strangely.
What really unsettled him were Ian’s dark eyes—calm and silent. Was it the calm before the storm?
After diverting his attention from Ian, Stephen responded to Ava, “Don’t worry. I told him to stay away from you p>
Ava sighed in relief. She didn’t want to deal with Ian. Talking to him was like inviting humiliation.
“Let’s talk to our parents directly and see what solution they come up with,†Ava suggested, wanting to change the topic.
“Sure. How about the day after tomorrow? We could have a family dinner,†Stephen proposed with excitement.
“Family dinner?†Ava murmured, her gaze falling to the floor.
The concept of a family was foreign to her. All she had was her mother, whom she considered her family. She never had the chance to live with her father, and she had no siblings. The idea of a family dinner was something she had never experienced.
At times, she questioned whether she could truly accept Harper as her father. After all, how could anyone replace their father in their heart?
She felt a hand rest on hers, bringing her back from her thoughts. She looked at her hand, then up at Stephen.
Stephen patted her hand gently. “I know we were strangers until a few days ago, but trust me. My dad is a responsible man. He sees you as his daughter because you’re his mate’s daughter. I will never treat you badly, and I will always protect you as my sister. You and your mom will live in a house of Gammas. We’ll do everything to give you both the best lives p>

Ava met Stephen’s gaze. His words touched her deeply. Even though he wasn’t her biological brother, she felt a bond with him, as if he truly were her brother.
Overcome with emotion, she bit her lip to hold back tears. Stephen lowered his head to study her face. When he saw the tears in her eyes, his expression softened in surprise.
He hugged her and said, “Hey, little sis. Don’t cry. Did I say something wrong?†Ava shook her head and returned the hug.
“Thanks, Stephen p>
Stephen rubbed her hair affectionately, like a big brother comforting his little sister. “I’ll always be here for you. Don’t worry. Your life won’t be the same as before. Your mom won’t have to worry about your protection anymore p>
Ava broke the hug and wiped her eyes. “I’m going to the washroom p>
“Yeah, you can go upstairs and use any room’s washroom. No one will be there. I don’t allow anyone to use private rooms,†he said, showing her the way to the stairs.
Ava thanked him and walked toward the staircase. As she made her way, she noticed a few boys trying to get closer to her. Stephen approached them from behind and gave them a stern shake of his head.
