Chapter 142
Chapter 142:
She had planned to say yes, but something held her back.
When Luke saw a popular restaurant on their route, he asked if she wanted to have dinner there.
She glanced at her phone and checked for missed calls. Finding none, she assumed her mother had not returned home yet—otherwise, she would have called.
So she agreed to Luke and they went to the restaurant.
As they took their seats at a table, Ava looked around the place. Since the restaurant was well-known, every table was filled with wealthy people. She even recognized some familiar faces from their university.
Her gaze drifted to Luke, who was sitting across from her, staring at her.

The boy’s brow rose, as if he was seeing a ghost. The girl quickly shook her head and gently grabbed his arm.
“No. We don’t know each other, dear,†the girl said with a polite smile.
She began dragging the boy toward the next table.

“Do you know them?†he asked.
“No. Don’t you think they’re strange p>
“Strange?†Luke said, glancing over at them.
The boy was still staring at Ava. Luke shot a glare at him, but when he noticed the girl also looking at Ava strangely, he realized Ava was right.
“Yeah, you’re right. That’s odd p>
Just then, Ava’s phone rang. She answered.
“Mom p>
“Ava, I heard from Stephen that you went out with Luke p>
She glanced at Luke and replied, “Yes, Mom p>
Her mother cleared her throat and whispered, “How is it going p>
