Chapter 728
Graham:
I watched the entire scene unfold on the screen. Earlier, they had split the screen
while Silver’s video was playing.
One side showed her video and the other their reactions.
Throughout it all, my eyes kept drifting to Kaylee.
I was holding a pair of binoculars.
Beyond the crowd, massive speakers had been set up everywhere.
Madeline sat casually on top of a tree with her friends, while I had already climbed down.
The moment had finally arrived for me to step in.
Wearing a cap, a hoodie, and keeping my head down, I made my way through the crowd toward the stage.
From up close, I was even angrier at Kaylee.
She looked like a completely different woman, giggling like a teenager, hugging Elgin, and finding every excuse to touch him.
In fact, a little birdie, also known as Mathew, had told me she had slept with Elgin the very day they met.
So all those promises of love, all the times she claimed she would die for me, had all been lies.
She had tricked me. She had fooled me.
I looked toward the stage and watched her nod happily.
“I, Alpha Elgin, the future Alpha King-” Elgin began dramatically, raising one hand as everyone laughed along with him as though he were putting on a performance.
“Accept this lonely, broken Luna, Kaylee, and give her the respect, love, and loyalty that her previous mate never could.”
His words were filled with pride and meant as an insult to me.
He didn’t just want to accept her. He wanted to remind her, and everyone else, that her previous mate had failed her.
And that slut smiled as though she agreed with every word.
As soon as he accepted her, she took a deep breath as though her greatest wish had finally come true.
“I, Luna Kaylee, accept Alpha King Elgin,” she said with a smile before pausing to kiss the back of his hand.
It didn’t seem like she was doing it just to secure the pack. She was genuinely cherishing every second of it.
Even after the rejection and the divorce, Kaylee was the one constantly smirking, smiling, and even winking at Silver, as if to remind her that she had won Elgin.
I was going to enjoy watching her fall from grace one day, just like Silver.
“And I promise to be faithful, to give him my love, my unwavering loyalty, and all the
pleasure he deserves, everything his previous Luna failed to give him.”
Of course, they were both full of bullshit.
Neither of them was loyal, and neither of them gave anything unless they expected something in return.
“I accept you, Kaylee,” Elgin replied.
Everyone laughed at how innocently adorable she seemed.
I knew her now. Actually, I’d known her for a long time.
She could become whoever she wanted to be. A sweet, innocent girl. A cunning bitch. A manipulative witch.
Right in front of me, she was all of them at once.
Then Elgin pulled her closer, and she brushed her hair away from her neck.
I watched as he sank his teeth into the spot where my mark had once been, and a sharp pain shot through my own mark.
They were overriding my mark, and she let him do it without the slightest protest.
Her fingers curled around his coat as he sank his teeth deeper into her skin.
The crowd erupted into cheers.
He pulled back, smiled at her, then kissed her on the lips, and she kissed him back.
To think this was the friend I had shared everything with.
I felt as though I no longer understood the difference between right and wrong, or
between friends and enemies.
Somewhere deep down, I was
beginning to realize that I had attracted people just like myself, selfish and self-serving.
After that, Kaylee rose onto her tiptoes and bit his neck.
The pain from my mark intensified.
As I pulled back my hood and looked at the crowd, I decided it was time to step forward.
I started walking up the stairs, and everyone turned to stare at me in shock.
Even the warriors rushed toward the stage, trying to shield the newly mated couple. “Come on. Don’t act like you don’t know me.”
The moment I spoke, every face in the crowd turned pale.
Elgin immediately gestured for the warriors to step aside and let me onto the stage.
He knew I was going to cause a lot of trouble if they tried to stop me.
I stepped onto the stage, pulled off my hoodie and cap, and every person in the crowd gasped.
“He’s a criminal. I want everyone to
see his face and know why I’m arresting an Alpha,” Elgin declared, pointing directly at me.
He realized there was no chance I would stand by his side after everything I had
seen.
“Oh, come on. If we’re talking about criminals, you’re forgetting that you’re holding one right under your arm.”
As soon as I said that, I turned to Kaylee.
Elgin looked at her, then back at me.
Kaylee stared at me in confusion.
She looked completely clueless, but
shener
there was also something in her expression that told me
had
never expected to see me again.
