Chapter 717
Madeline:
Today felt different. The feeling itself was strange.
I had woken up thinking everything would make me happy again, but I didn’t know
anymore.
At least I would get to see Elara today.
I sighed as I walked ahead and stopped in front of the enormous royal grounds.
They had chosen the royal garden.
It stretched for miles, with a massive screen mounted above the crowd.
It had been set up so the rejection would be displayed for everyone to see.
I had also heard he was going to be crowned today.
It was just another fucking day that we were about to ruin for him.
“I don’t know where you are, bodhi, but I’ll find you. Mom is coming to get you,” I told
myself under my breath before letting out a sigh.
I turned around, and my eyes landed on Nala’s warriors.
One of them held up a phone and gestured that Nala had finally responded.
Byron was fine.
“We should head back. People will be arriving any minute,” one of the warriors told me and I nodded.
I was wearing khaki pants and a black shirt, with my hair tied in a high ponytail.
I turned around and headed back to the cabin.
By the time I got there, I was shocked to find Ron heavily drunk.
Nala was drinking too, but I noticed her quickly grab something from the table and hide it underneath.
For a moment, I wondered if they were doing drugs together.
“Okay, since when did you two become so friendly?” I commented, stopping across
the table from them with my hands on my waist.
“Me and her? Never,” Ron replied, pointing at Nala.
She rolled her eyes.
“As if I’m dying to be friends with him.”
Watching the two of them bicker honestly made me feel like the world was normal again.
At least my world.
Because mine was the only one that had been turned upside down.
“But you should ask her if she and Mathew fucked.”
The words slipped out of Ron’s mouth, and Nala’s eyes widened.
She shot to her feet, leaned over him, and snatched the bottle out of his hand.
“That’s enough alcohol for today,” she grunted, avoiding my eyes.
“Do you and-” I started to ask.
She immediately looked away, her face turning tomato red.
I decided not to press her for now, though her reaction was definitely unusual.
“Anyway, we’re heading to the
grounds. The ceremony starts in an hour. Are you two going to be okay? Do you think you’ll be able to go without fucking anything up? K asked Ron because he seemed much drunker than Nala.
Nala looked fine. It seemed like she’d only had one glass.
“Oh yeah, I’m completely fine. I’d love to watch those assholes get kicked in the ass,” Ron mumbled before his gaze shifted to the door as Graham walked in.
Honestly, I was getting so annoyed with Graham.
Every time his scent reached me, I felt even more disgusted with myself.
The only good thing that had come out of our alliance was Gina.
Now she was gone too.
“Anyway, I’ll be fine,” Ron commented, looking away from Graham.
I guessed even Ron was too excited to watch Graham’s fall from grace.
I figured that even if I caught him and handed him over to the council, they would arrest me too.
Or I could tie him to a tree and make an anonymous call saying a criminal was tied up there.
That would work too, but it wouldn’t give me the satisfaction I wanted.
I wanted Graham to face public
humiliation once again because remembered how, every time they tortured someone like me or Yvonne, they threatened to make videos of us go viral.
This was the perfect kind of punishment.
They thought the cameras and phones would work in their favor, but now they were
about to become their biggest disadvantage.
In fact, Graham acted like I didn’t know how cocky he had become ever since I
agreed to marry him.
“Come on, Ron. You look pretty
wasted. You don’t want to miss the
moment when we announce our
marriage to everyone and show
them just how fucked up the council members and their leaders are,”
Graham commented, folding his arms across his chest.
Nala and I exchanged a glance, and I could tell she wanted to pounce on him just as
much as the rest of us.
“You shouldn’t worry about me. I’m fine,” Ron replied.
As expected, Ron didn’t like Graham talking to him.
“Anyway, let’s go. Nala, please help him wash his face. Sober him up a little,” I said
as I walked over to Ron.
Neither Ron nor Nala misbehaved around each other in front of Graham.
Whatever playful behavior they shared, they kept it hidden from him.
The two of them had become a united front against him.
She glared at Graham before helping Ron to his feet and leading him away.
“I- I really think they’re fucking. All that ‘Oh, I miss my Luna’ crap is just a facade,” Graham commented, making my jaw clench.
I discreetly pulled my phone out, and my mind immediately went back to the video Mathew had sent me a few minutes earlier.
It was going to work perfectly in our favor.
