Chapter 658
Elgin:
“Are you talking about the same Madeline everyone calls the Savior?” she asked, looking genuinely confused.
“Well, she’s not just a savior. She does a lot of fucked-up shit.”
I grew impatient, irritated by the way Rosetta spoke so highly of her.
“I don’t know,” Rosetta replied. “Just because she had babies with you and your friends doesn’t make her a whore. I’m just saying that all of you were equally involved. You knew she was with someone else, so why would you-“
She trailed off and shook her head.
“Anyway, just go and calm Elara down. And please be gentle with her. She’s only a child.”
It was the first time I had seen Rosetta look so disappointed in me.
For a moment, I wondered if I had made a mistake by using those words when talking about Madeline.
“I will be,” I replied with a smile, trying to do some damage control.
But the moment I walked into the living room, I hurried toward the room Rosetta had prepared for Elara after letting her sleep in her own bed for a day.
The moment I slammed the door open, my jaw nearly hit the floor.
“What the fuck?” I almost screamed.
The room looked nothing like the ones Hailey and Hannah had.
It was a small, fairy-themed space.
A massive tree stood in the corner, its thick trunk stretching all the way to the ceiling.
Branches spread to the ceiling, covered in green leaves that gave the impression of a real forest growing inside the room.
A wooden ladder rested against the trunk, leading up to a small treehouse tucked among the branches.
My gaze shifted to the bed, and my stomach tightened.
It wasn’t an ordinary bed.
It looked like a miniature princess house built right into the room.
A staircase curved up to a second level, where a tiny balcony overlooked the bed below.
Pink flowers decorated the railings, while soft curtains framed the windows of the little house.
The lower section held a large bed covered in pink blankets and pillows.
Everything matched. The walls, the furniture, even the decorations had been chosen to create a dreamy fairy-tale setting.
Storage chests sat beneath the tree, and warm lights glowed from different corners of the room, making the entire place feel cozy and welcoming.
This wasn’t a guest room.
This wasn’t a temporary arrangement.
Someone had put time, effort, and a ridiculous amount of money into making this place perfect for a little girl.
And judging by the look of it, Rosetta had done everything she could to make Elara feel at home.
And then there was that little piece of shit, sitting on the pink carpet and crying her eyes out.
The moment she realized I was there, she jumped to her feet and ran toward me.
“Daddy, take me to Mommy!” she cried, reaching out to wrap her tiny arms around
me.
I didn’t give her the chance.
I raised my hand and struck her so hard that she hit the floor with a thud.
Her eyes widened as I stood over her, my fists clenched at my sides.
“Why am I hearing that you’ve been causing trouble?” I screamed at her as loudly as I could.
I watched her body shudder with sudden fear.
“Listen, I’m not your daddy. I’m only Hailey and Hannah’s father. Do you hear me? Your father is dead,” Lo screamed at Elara, making
her lower
lip tremble.
The tears gathering in her eyes only seemed to make her look smaller.
“No. Don’t cry.”
My voice came out colder than I intended.
“You cry one more time, and you know what I’ll do, don’t you?”
I fixed her with a warning look, and she immediately pressed her lips together, desperately trying to hold back a sob.
She began to crawl away, but I stalked after her and grabbed her by the throat.
My fingers wrapped around her small neck with ease, and she understood.
I could kill her with a single snap.
The only reason she was still alive and breathing in front of me was because I wanted her mother to suffer.
Otherwise, Elara was of no use to me.
“If you make one more sound, if you call for me again, won’t just kill I you.
3ll your mother too Do you hear
me?” I shouted.
I hauled her up with one hand still around her throat.
It was effortless to lift her and throw her onto the bed.
The moment I turned around, Rosetta walked into the room.
She looked at me, then at Elara.
Elara was frozen.
She didn’t make a sound.
“See? I calmed her down,” I said, smiling at Elara.
I watched her struggle to swallow.
“She won’t bother you again,” I said to Rosetta.
She studied both of us for a moment before a small smile appeared on her face.
“I have to go attend my daughters’
ceremony. They’ve prepared
something cute. I’ll record ital
show it to you fater, okay”
I made the promise to Rosetta before turning away.
As I did, I shot Elara a warning glare.
She had already curled herself into a small ball.
Then I walked past Rosetta. I really didn’t have time to linger.
My daughters were waiting for me.
I needed to be there for them.
