Chapter 726
Silver:
My life had become a joke.
My videos were going viral, playing in front of everyone.
I couldn’t understand how any of this had happened.
I looked around frantically, trying to make sense of everything.
Goosebumps wouldn’t stop rising across my skin.
Fear gripped me so tightly that I didn’t know what to do.
My eyes shifted to my father, who was staring at everything with even more fear in
his eyes.
“What the fuck is that?” a counselor yelled at my father as I confessed in front of everyone that I had killed William.
I ran, but my father immediately stepped away from me.
“Father, please help me,” I pleaded.
He looked me straight in the eye, then shook his head.
“No, I won’t. How could you do this?” my father screamed, leaving me stunned.
I guess, at this point, even he realized there was no saving me.
He had decided to save himself instead.
“Oh, please. Don’t act like you’re clueless.”
Elgin stepped forward and stopped in front of me.
It was as though he no longer realized how much pain I was in.
He only made it worse.
He didn’t seem like someone who cared anymore.
His entire focus was on protecting himself.
My heartbeat pounded in my ears, and my chest rose and fell so rapidly that my knees began to weaken.
“How was I supposed to know she confessed to killing him?” my father shouted, pointing at me.
I wrapped my arms around myself and broke down.
“Really? But she confessed it to you.”
As soon as Elgin said that, my father’s face turned pale.
“Don’t you think that, as a council leader, he should have handed his daughter over? Instead, he was defending her,” Elgin yelled, making his mother smile with pride as she folded her arms across her chest.
Elgin pushed me away while I was still dazed.
I tried to grab his arm, but he shrugged me off, shoving me until I tripped and landed on my ass.
This time, even my father couldn’t comfort me because he was in trouble because of
me.
I didn’t know what to do.
It was my father’s last attempt to save himself, but it wasn’t going to work.
Everyone watched him with disgust and anger.
“He shouldn’t even be the council leader. How dare he let one of us die at the bands of bis insane daughter and do nothing about a council member yelled, making me look at my father with nothing but embarrassment.
I realized what I had done. I had completely destroyed my father.
My obsession with Elgin had dragged us into this nightmare.
If my father was punished too, it would be because of me.
He was going to face every kind of punishment.
Not only that, but his authority had completely collapsed.
Elgin now held all the power, leaving my father with nothing.
Everything had been destroyed because of my selfish love, and there was nothing anyone could do to undo it.
“And that’s not all. You’ve all heard it.
In front of her father, Silver
confessed that she stole those tears. from Madelme. Which means the explanations her father has been standing here giving were all part of their plan.”
Greta pointed at my father, exposing all our lies and manipulations.
It felt as though, piece by piece, we were being stripped bare.
I stood there feeling completely exposed.
Then one thought hit me.
Madeline.
I remembered people saying that the Moon Goddess had answered Madeline’s call
and was punishing everyone who had wronged her.
At first, I thought it was all bullshit, but now everything was starting to make sense.
I was petrified by what was going to happen to me next.
“Well, we’ve reached our decision.
Lord John will no longer serve as the
council leader. He will be punished
and not for just five years. His daughter will spend the rest of her Fucking fe in prison and no will join her as an accomplice to the murder of our great council leader.”
Lady Greta announced the sentence in a stern, unwavering voice, causing me to
collapse to my knees again.
I covered my face with my hands.
I never expected my life to turn into a mess like this.
“Life in prison. That’s exactly what she deserves,” Kaylee remarked.
This time, Elgin looked proud as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled
her closer.
She giggled softly, as though she were completely carefree.
“That’s why I told you I’m marrying Kaylee. I’ll take responsibility for the pack her husband left behind,” Elgin announced, shattering the last of my hope.
But I still had one final hope.
“What about my children? You can’t send both my father and me to prison. What will happen to my two little girls?” I cried, watching the crowd slowly turn to one another. The children were a sensitive subject for everyone.
I knew they would find some way to let me stay with my daughters. “How about imprisoning me in a mansion? I’ll never leave it, but at least I’ll be there
to watch my daughters grow up,” I pleaded, trembling with fear and the thought of losing them.
