Chapter 746
Madeline:
The dress had a beautiful corset that made my breasts look fuller through the deep cleavage.
Even when I moved, they jiggled visibly beneath the dress.
The dress fell just above my ankles.
It was beautiful, with diamonds decorating it.
I applied the red lipstick from the basket and left my hair down.
I just wanted to get out so I could see Elara and find out whether they really had her or if they were bluffing me.
I walked out and stood in front of the camera, feeling exhausted and angry at the same time.
That meant I had no idea what had happened.
My mind was overflowing with questions, and on top of that, I had to see Sawyer again.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to deal with all of it.
It had been a whole year since I had last seen him.
The last time I saw him was back in the werewolf land, when he came to visit me.
Then he left me at the mercy of those cruel people.
When I tried to contact him, he didn’t seem interested.
After that, he never tried to contact me again.
He was just gone.
He had disappeared.
And, of course, I knew he had married Nina.
Because whatever he said he would do, he did.
So now, him holding me here like a hostage just didn’t sit right with me.
What exactly was he trying to do?
And where the fuck was Nina?
If I knew anything about her, it was that she was obsessed with Sawyer.
So if she knew I had arrived and her husband was keeping me here, she would
have wanted to come too, either to speak with me or to rub it in my face that he had chosen her over me.
The door opened again.
This time, Daniel finally showed up.
I stood in the corner of the room, directly beneath the camera, at an angle where I knew it couldn’t see me.
Daniel walked in with his warriors behind him.
“Thank you so much for listening to me til now,” Daniel said, giving me a weak, empathetic smile.
“As if you have left any room for disagreement,” I continued meeting him with
sarcasm.
He didn’t look like someone who had gone power-crazy.
He seemed like he was genuinely doing everything for a greater purpose because he had to obey the President.
And I bet he also knew the only reason I was listening to him was because, at some point, I thought I’d get to see my children.
“Please have a seat. We should have a conversation in a more-” he began.
Before he could finish, I folded my arms across my chest and rolled my eyes. He already understood.
There was no way I was going to listen to any more demands from them.
“Your children are safe,” he assured me as he lowered himself onto the bed.
I clicked my tongue and smirked.
“That’s how I know you’re lying,” I replied confidently, watching him frown. “I only had Elara with me.”
As soon as I said that, he raised a hand to show me I was mistaken.
“No. Do you seriously think I’m an idiot?” I asked, my hands on my waist.
He looked over his shoulder to make sure his bodyguards were right behind him.
“If only you’d let me speak,” he muttered.
“No, Daniel. You keep saying ‘my
children

I only had my daughter
So guess the President’s
information is a little outdated.
As I said those words, tears began to form in my eyes at the distant memory of the child I had lost.
Sawyer didn’t even know that when he left me there, without ever trying to reach me or put pressure on the werewolf.community from all the way across the land to treat me better, I had lost my daughter.
“You seem to be holding onto a lot of emotions,” he observed.
I clicked my tongue, biting my bottom lip.
“Yeah, I’ll tell your President that I’m not the woman he knew before,” I said, my voice cracking.
“I’ve been through a lot,” I added,
squeezing my eyes shut, trying to
sound sarcastic so he wouldn’t think
he could control me for much

“I lost my husband,” I said, my voice cracking again. “And I lost—” I paused. “My daughter.”
I sucked in a deep breath to calm myself.
“So no, I know you’re lying,” I hissed, a large tear rolling down my cheek before I
wiped it away with the back of my hand.
“I only came here with Elara,” I repeated, this time with much more force in my
voice.
“I know,” he replied. “The one in the passenger seat, right?”
My heart skipped a beat.
Then he added, “There was a woman in the back seat as well.”
That was his way of telling me they weren’t bluffing, that my car had somehow
ended up here.
