I knew it. I knew she would use her daughters as her last chance to save herself.

The contents of the message changed everything.

‘I have to tell you something, Elgin. A few minutes ago, I received a letter that was probably mailed several days ago. It was written in secret by the council members. They voted for me to become the third council leader.’

As soon as I finished reading, I smiled. That meant my mother and Rosetta would choose the third council leader together.

I looked up, unable to hide my smile. Now I could appoint someone I trusted, someone I could intimidate through my mother and Rosetta’s influence.

The third council leader would be under my control because I would have the majority of the council on my side.

This was the perfect moment of victory.

“Now, what were you saying?” I asked, slipping my phone into my pocket.

I smiled even wider because Rosetta’s last message said she wanted me to be the voice and the mind behind the council leader. She told me she loved me and would support me no matter what I did.

Here I was, standing as the most powerful person. I straightened my shoulders, certain everyone had noticed.

Even Silver was watching me with longing, probably hoping I would take her back.

“Warriors, make her sign the divorce papers. Then take her and her father away. We have a new council leader to discuss.”
