Chapter 776
Baxter:
His confident expression finally broke when he looked up and realized everyone was watching him with nothing but fear.
“No. No, not now!” he growled, fighting to keep his Lycan under control.
Another crack echoed through the theater.
Then another.
Everyone looked around in confusion.
“Is it true?” a girl asked her boyfriend.
“Is he really a Lycan?” another girl questioned.
Sawyer toppled over.
His entire body shook violently.
Then he snapped his head toward Livia.
His eyes were no longer human.
Golden irises flickered for only a heartbeat before dark veins spread beneath them.
Livia immediately stopped struggling.
She knew she had been caught.
The transformation had already begun.
Daniel took one step forward, drawing a deep, heavy breath.
“So it is true! The president was a Lycan all along!” someone from the crowd shouted.
Sawyer let out a roar that no human throat should have been capable of making.
The sound rippled through the theater.
Several people screamed.
Many bolted toward the exits.
Chairs toppled over.
Students stumbled and fell.
The guards no longer cared about arresting anyone.
Half of them rushed toward Sawyer.
The others instantly backed away.
Their training had prepared them for armed criminals, not monsters.
Sawyer’s clothes ripped apart across his back.
The fabric split with a loud tear.
He continued to grow larger with every passing second.
For the first time since this had begun, Livia looked at me.
Real fear settled across her face.
“I’m not going to let her get hurt!” Daniel shouted, clenching his fists.
If Sawyer completed his transformation before we reached him, everything would change.
As he continued transforming, one of his claws raked across Livia’s side.
A thin line of blood appeared across her clothes where his claw had grazed her.
She grimaced in pain, struggling to free herself from his massive grip, but he was already too far into his transformation.
That was when Daniel stopped caring about everything else and rushed toward the stage.
I, on the other hand, moved toward the emergency sprinkler controls.
I knew they would hurt me too.
That was why I had come wearing clothes that covered most of my skin.
But Sawyer wasn’t so fortunate.
He was in the middle of his transformation.
He had no fucking clothes left on his body.
I rushed over and pulled the emergency lever.
My eyes immediately returned to the stage.
Livia saw Daniel charging toward Sawyer with a dagger in his hand.
“No! What the fuck are you doing?” she screamed.
The sprinklers activated.
The mixture burned wherever it touched my exposed skin, but not enough to make me lose control.
It only reminded me of what I was.
Other than that, I was handling it far better than Sawyer.
He roared and screamed in agony.
“No, Daniel!” Livia cried again. “Don’t come onto the stage! He’ll kill you!”
“I don’t care!” Daniel shouted back as he sprinted onto the stage.
I ran back toward the crowd.
People were already stumbling over one another, even crashing into me.
They were no longer afraid of me.
They were more afraid of Sawyer.
Livia kept screaming at Daniel to stop.
Then her eyes found me and I noticed.
Even Daniel slowed down.
“Daniel, fucking get out of the way!” she screamed.
“Let Baxter help!”
The moment those words left her mouth, Daniel stopped so abruptly that he nearly stumbled.
He slowly turned to look at me.
“Baxter, please help me!” Livia cried.
I had no idea whether she realized what those words had just done to Daniel.
But I didn’t have time to think about it.
The sprinklers would eventually soak

Sawyer, however, was still screaming.
His transformation was now complete.
Daniel looked at me before turning back to Livia.
Without warning, Sawyer flung Livia to the floor.
She struck the stage hard, nearly losing consciousness, but she was still breathing.
I focused and sprinted toward the stage.
Sawyer raised one massive claw.
I knew exactly what he was about to do.
He was going to bring it down on her.
To crush her skull beneath it.
As his arm started to descend, I saw the fear in her eyes.
The fear of someone who believed she was about to die.
Then, completely unexpectedly, the person she had never considered her hero
threw himself over her.
Daniel shielded her with his own body, placing himself directly beneath Sawyer’s descending claw.
The moment Sawyer’s claw came

writhing in agony.
The iron must have entered his bloodstream now.
Daniel immediately turned to Livia and lifted her over his shoulder.
She was too stunned to move on her own.
The way Sawyer had thrown her onto the stage, she had to be injured.
“Go, Daniel,” I ordered, giving him a nod. “I’ll take it from here.”
