Chapter 769
Sawyer:
“I don’t think she’s doing very well,” my guard remarked, pointing at Nina.
The problem was that Nina was stubborn.
She wanted to be in my bed, but she refused to be the woman who gave me her blood.
It wasn’t as though my lycan was drinking that much from her.
He had other sources.
I found healthy people from all around me, miserable people who needed
something, vulnerable people whose loved ones had gone missing, or people who had disappeared into my secret prisons.
I drank from all of them without them ever realizing it.
They gave me plenty of blood.
But with Nina, my lycan drank directly from the source.
“That is because she’d stopped eating. If she started eating again, she’d regain her strength,” I remarked with an eye roll, annoyed that they were making such a big deal out of it.
“If it’s alright, we should take her to the hospital.”
As soon as the guard said that, I turned to him with a raised eyebrow.
“Who are you working for, her or me?” I demanded, pointing first at Nina and then at myself.
“Where is my father,” I heard Nina murmur weakly.
“See? She’s fine,” I replied, gesturing toward her with my hairbrush.
Today was the day.
I had to settle my score with Baxter.
He had no idea how easy it would be for me to get my hands on him.
Then I’d humiliate him publicly before throwing him back onto the werewolf land.
But before that, I’d play games with him.
Mental pain.
Physical pain.
Every kind of suffering I could inflict on him.
That would help satisfy the vengeance I’d carried for the past years.
I’d received a second letter from Baxter, and it seemed he’d gotten so scared that
he’d changed the meeting time to when the theater event would begin.
I realized he was afraid of meeting me alone.
So he decided that if people were around us, I’d be more hesitant to open fire on him.
Little did he know, I had far more power than that.
“Has the doctor arrived yet?” I asked my guard.
He checked his watch before shaking his head.
“Not yet.”
It was still early morning.
The event wouldn’t begin until the evening.
I could already feel my lycan awakening from the excitement of seeing Baxter, and I didn’t want that.
“Well then, call the guards and ask them where the fuck they are,” I hissed.
I threw the hairbrush at Nina, and it struck her in the head.
She whimpered, but I no longer cared.
The guard had barely turned around
when
one of the guards I’d sent with
214
8red at the door, bumping into the one leaving my my foom.
“The doctor is here. We brought her,” he reported.
I smiled and turned to look at Nina before walking out of the room.
Just as I’d expected, Dr. Livia was sitting on the couch.
“I heard
night. Well, I don’t blame you. Some people relieve their stress a little differently than others.”
pop a little fun last
As I spoke, I watched her lower her head and swallow.
“So tell me, Livia, did you bring me what I asked for?” I asked, watching her give a slight nod.
“I did,” she replied softly.
“Good,” I murmured, watching her open her bag with trembling hands and place
something on the table in front of me.
It was a black liquid.
I took my seat and stared at it before looking back up at her.
“You should take it before going out in public today,” she cautioned. “The guards
had told me you needed it for the event.”
I tapped my fingers against the bottle for a moment.
Then I grabbed it and started unscrewing the cap.
“What are you doing? It’s for later!”
The panic in her voice immediately caught my attention.
“I’d like to take a little sip and try it.”
As I said that, I raised the bottle to my lips and drank it all.
Then I looked at her.
She watched my face as I emptied the bottle.
“Lycans need more and more of it to keep their lycan under control, you know,” she tried to explain.
I stopped her with a wave of my hand.
“You must have brought more, then,” I said.
I wanted to show her that I wasn’t worried about running out because she definitely
had another bottle.
If she’d thought I was going to take it with me without testing it first, she was so fucking wrong.
However, I slowly felt my lycan drifting to sleep.
She hadn’t been lying.
It really was a suppressant.
“Do you have more?” I asked.
It was still early morning, and I’d need another bottle for the evening.
So I needed a full one.
She gave me a reassuring nod before pulling out another black-and-silver bottle.
I didn’t tell her I suspected her.
I really had thought she was going to trick me.
Part of me had been excited to punish her.
But at the same time, I needed this.
She placed the bottle on the table.
I grabbed it and slipped it into my pocket.
“You’ll be reunited with your mother the moment I get my hands on Baxter said gesturing toward the guard who knew where her mother,
and even Nina’s father, were being held.
