Chapter 693

Livia:

“Um, where are we going?” I asked Rob, quickening my pace to match his as his bodyguards held me by the arms.

“Uh, where are you taking her? She needs to come with me,” I said as I watched them lead Gina to another car.

“No! I don’t want to go with you. I want to stay with Aunt Livia!”

Gina’s voice rang through the parking lot, and everybody fell silent.

I felt this strange affection toward her.

Or maybe connection was the right word.

The way she called me Aunt Livia made me feel like family.

“Please let me go with her. It’s not like I’m running away,” I complained, realizing they were probably taking me to treat President Sawyer at the hospital.

But why the heck were they dragging me?

It didn’t make any sense, and I certainly didn’t approve of it.

“Well, for starters, why do you have his stepdaughter? If my information is correct, her mother and two siblings stayed in the werewolf land. How did you get her?”

The moment he asked that question, I realized we were in trouble.

My eyes landed on Gina, and guilt washed over me.

I had to do everything possible to get Gina and Baxter to meet each other.

Slowly, I slipped my hand into my bag to call Daniel.

But the moment my fingers wrapped around my phone, Rob lunged at me and grabbed my wrist, yanking my hand back out.

“No hanky-panky,” he commanded with a smirk as he snatched my bag away.

“Okay, I do not like this treatment. I’m the one who helped President Sawyer wake up. You cannot treat me this way.”

I began to scream and protest as they shoved me into the car.

Panic struck me when I realized they had made Gina sit in a separate car with the guards and the asshole himself.

The entire car ride, I was extremely worried.

The saddest part was that I wished I had taken Gina to Baxter in the middle of the night.

Maybe I had overlooked the danger of having so many eyes on me.

But how was I supposed to know Gina was Sawyer’s stepdaughter?

Their lives had always been very private.

And even when other people knew about them, I had spent the last few years working and studying so hard to get to the position I was in today.

Then we finally arrived at the hospital.

We were escorted out of the car, and Gina ran straight toward me.

She wrapped her arms around my legs as if she had known me for years.

I took her hand, and we were led to President Sawyer’s room.

Right off the bat, I could tell something wasn’t right.

It had been a few days since President Sawyer woke up.

I had been asked to prepare his medicines, but I wasn’t allowed to see him until

today.

The moment I entered the room,

instead of finding him lying in bed in

a hospital gown, I found him sitting

in a chair wearing a black suit, his hand tapping against the armrest.

The moment I walked in, I felt as though he was glaring right through me.

But then his expression softened when Gina yelped.

“Uncle Sawyer!” she cried, rushing toward him.

However, the moment she ran into his arms and he leaned forward in his chair to

hug her, I watched a look of confusion spread across his face.

He pulled back and gently touched her cheek.

“Why are you calling me Uncle?” he asked, and I had no clue what had happened to their family.

At this point, I was just someone who had tried to reunite a family, only to discover there was so much wrong with it.

“Because you’re Uncle now,” Gina replied.

Her voice had changed.

She had been so lifeless before, but it seemed that being back among the people she once knew had given her hope, or at least a little more energy.

“But why? I am your daddy.”

Sawyer’s voice was completely different when he spoke to her.

There was a hint of calmness in it, but it wasn’t gentle.

It seemed as though he was trying his best to project authority and

dominance not like a fatherne

trying to speak sweetly to the daughter he had been away from for so long.

“No. Daddy is Baxter. He is Daddy now.”

I watched Gina’s face light up at the mention of the stranger, and that was when my

heart skipped a beat.

His name was Baxter.

I guessed the name itself had

I could tell a child would never know what to say next.

“But you know, honey, he’s just your mother’s friend, and he’s marrying her sister,”

Sawyer said in an overly sweet tone, and it gave me goosebumps.

I had no clue what was going on, but I was stunned to find out that Baxter was

apparently married to Gina’s aunt.

However, Gina quickly corrected him.

“No, Daddy. Aunt Yuvonne got married to Alpha Ron, and Mommy got married to Daddy. Daddy Baxter.”

I watched Sawyer’s face slowly turn red as rage took over, and I knew all hell was about to break loose.
