Chapter 841
Livia:
Finding a sister like that was really not something I had expected.
I had thought I would have to personally go into werewolf territory to find my sister, which was going to be incredibly difficult.
But I was ready for it. I just didn’t know how I was going to do it.
Thankfully, I found my sister, or should I say, my sister found me?
I was so glad Madeline had gotten curious enough to chase me all the way down.
And now I was also the sister-in-law of the new president.
That was beyond amazing, and I was so happy until my eyes landed on Daniel and my sister.
They were standing quite far apart.
Daniel was holding a wineglass and staring directly at my sister while she sat with Yuvonne and her children, catching up on everything.
We’d had a whole day of meetings and talked about everything.
Then, finally, my sister’s enemy, Kaylee, arrived.
Everyone briefly disappeared before coming back out to sit down.
My attention remained on Daniel and the way he was watching my sister.
Then I glanced into the distance and noticed Baxter standing with Ron and one of the guards.
They were giving him some kind of update, but I could tell that his eyes were on Daniel and Madeline.
So it wasn’t just me noticing it.
Daniel started walking around the couch before leaning down to whisper something into Madeline’s ear, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up.
My fist clenched as I quickly put my files into my bag, getting ready to go home.
I watched Madeline excuse herself from Yuvonne and get up from the couch, leaving her two children with her.
Yuvonne immediately began joking and playing with the children.
Gina and Elara were the cutest, and I couldn’t wait to meet Bodhi.
But what worried me was that my attention kept drifting back to Daniel and Madeline.
Madeline stepped aside, and Daniel followed her.
The two of them started walking toward the exit, so Daniel was probably telling her that he was ready to leave.
I rushed out ahead of them, my bag strap over my shoulder.
I thought I had made it out of the house first, but they stopped right at the gate, apparently not realizing I was standing off to the side, hidden behind the door.
I decided to act casual while listening to their conversation.
“You did a really great job today,” I heard Madeline say to Daniel.
“I’m glad you liked it. I was really hoping for some appreciation from you,” he replied rather playfully, making Madeline giggle.
I anxiously twisted my fingers around the strap, not understanding what Daniel was doing, trying to sound so sexy.
He was using his sexy voice, and I knew that because, well, he never used it with me.
“So, we’re meeting tomorrow?” Daniel asked her.
“Of course.”
Madeline’s answer was short, but there was a little shyness behind it.
“Um, by the way, you’d look really good in brown,” he commented, making my heart skip a beat.
That was something he had told me once.
Looking back at our friendship, I remembered one time when he had very dramatically told me that brown didn’t look good on many people, but it would look good on me.
And now he was telling Madeline the same thing. Why?
Because she was my sister, and she looked like me.
So was he thinking that if he couldn’t get me, he would try to flirt with my sister instead?
My sister, who was also the wife of
the fucking president, the most powerful man here an intelligent man who could terally squash
matterally-acuasha
Daniel under his foot.
“Perhaps we can talk over coffee
tomorrow. We don’t need anyone et
else around mean we both
understand medicine, so I don’t think
we should bother the others.”
My sister responded in the same flirtatious tone Daniel had been using, and I was stunned.
I understood why Daniel was doing it. He was trying to spite me because of our
fight.
But what was wrong with my sister?
She had Baxter, the president.
I mean, she had the man who truly loved her more than anyone else, even without
his memories.
The minute he saw her, he fell in love with her.
I could only imagine how much more Baxter loved her with all his memories intact.
So why was she doing that?
Was it because of Kaylee?
I mean, I had heard that Baxter had saved her, but I didn’t know what else was going on or why she was still staying in the mansion.
I didn’t even know what she had done to end up in the basement in the first place.
That was until Madeline told me herself, while taking me downstairs, that Kaylee was the one who had tried to kill Baxter.
So why had Baxter spared her life?
It was beyond me.
My thoughts were completely scrambled until I heard footsteps and stepped away
from the front porch.
