Chapter 839
Kaylee:
I had a wonderful day.
Early that morning, Baxter had left the bedroom.
It was a little upsetting because he had slept on the couch, but it was fine.
Very soon, we would be sharing a bed again.
Later that afternoon, when he returned, he gave me his card and told me to get myself whatever I wanted.
And well, this was the human world.
I had been given wolfsbane because Baxter didn’t want anyone to find out that I had
a wolf. Werewolves weren’t allowed here.
Then I was sent out.
I felt so weird.
Even as an Alpha’s wife, I had never been given as much importance as I was being given as the President’s woman.
After all, a President was equal in status to an Alpha King.
And there was only one president.
There were guards and cars, everything waiting for me.
I took quite a few guards with me.
At the salon, I got treatments, a manicure, a pedicure, and had everything that had been ruined taken care of.
I dyed my hair pink, curled it, and then bought a lot of things.
By the time I was heading back, it was pretty late.
Thankfully, I had been texting Baxter and keeping him informed about where I was going, and not once did he ask me why I was spending so much, unlike Graham.
He used to be so stingy.
I mean, Baxter was probably the only man who could compete with Graham, to be honest.
I had genuinely loved Graham, but compared to what I felt for Baxter now, even that love seemed to fade.
But the moment I got home, I received news that shocked me quite a bit.
As soon as I entered, I found out that humans had come to our house.
The only thing I regretted was that nobody had told me.
I would have introduced myself to them too, and Baxter could have introduced me as his soon-to-be wife.
“Come over here,” I said, gesturing to Dr Livia
I had heard she was a lead researcher or something. I wasn’t sure. But she was the
only one in the living room right now.
She walked over to me and looked me up and down.
“Yes?” she asked in a rather pissed-off tone.
“Where is the President, and why wasn’t I informed? I should have been here to welcome them,” I said bitterly.
She stepped back, looked me up and down again, and scoffed.
“The President? You can’t behave like that in front of the President. Do not try to control me or tell me what I should and shouldn’t do. You hear me? As for not introducing you don’t think you’re presentable enough to be introduced.”
That woman, who bore a slight resemblance to Madeline, had the same nasty, arrogant mannerisms as her.
The way she spoke was so rude.
“Oh, you know what? I’ll get you fired,” I told her before walking away to the bedroom.
However, the minute I opened the door, who did I find?
Madeline.
The minute I left, she had snuck into my bedroom to steal my husband from me. So typical of her.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, gesturing for the warriors to put all the bags down.
She turned around, folded her arms across her chest, and shook her head, laughing slightly.
“You are so predictable, Kaylee. You’ve changed your hair, everything. Just change your personality a little too. It doesn’t suit you. Every time, you have the same approach.”
Madeline’s words rang in my head.
I started walking toward her with an eyebrow raised.
She couldn’t threaten me here because I was pretty sure she was hiding her wolf as well.
“Well, we’ll see what happens when I marry your husband.”
As soon as I said that, I watched Madeline’s jaw drop.
“See? It hurt, didn’t it? Doesn’t it remind you that you did the exact same thing to me? During my marriage you were happy taking husband’s attention. How does it feel now that I’m getting your husband’s attention?” I asked very calmly, looking her up and down.
“Alright, now get out of here because this is mine and Baxter’s bedroom said as I walked over and sat on the bed, watching her roll her eyes before silently leaving the room.
That felt a little strange to me.
Madeline wasn’t the type to leave so quietly.
Maybe Baxter had already dealt her such a huge defeat by bringing me into his
bedroom that she didn’t have the courage to argue with me anymore.
Yes, that had to be it.
As soon as she walked out, I clenched my fists.
I hated Madeline, and the fact that she was the one who had met the guests today
made me feel even worse.
I didn’t want Madeline to stay here at all.
I wanted to be the only woman in Baxter’s life, and I was going to make sure of it, no
matter what happened.
I had just gotten up from the bed when Elara and Gina suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
