Chapter 639
Elgin:
As I thrust into her one last time, she moaned softly and rolled onto her side.
I watched her lying there naked, her breasts rising and falling as she stared at the ceiling.
I knew I had given Silver the best sex of her life.
We had fucked all night.
That was my way of trying to win her over again, leaving behind small traces of hope for her to cling to.
Hope that one day, I could belong only to her.
“Are you still upset with me?” I asked, hoping her response would be different.
Instead, she reached for the sheet and pulled it over herself, covering her nipples and the curve of her hips.
She kept her gaze fixed on the ceiling for a moment before finally turning to look at
me.
“You think that’s enough?” she murmured. “You betrayed me, Elgin. You’re in love with someone else. If this were only about sex, I could get that anywhere. You know that.”
Her words made my fists clench.
Yeah, I knew.
She could get it anywhere. She had made that clear enough.
I bit my tongue. For now.
“Listen,” I said, leaning over her and tugging the sheet down again, exposing her breasts.
As I cupped them in my hands, I caught the hitch in her breathing.
She was lying. I still affected her.
The way my fingers moved over her soft skin and teased her nipples, I could feel her giving in to me again.
“Do you seriously believe that?” I asked.
She frowned at me immediately.
“Yeah. You’re literally planning a wedding with her. What are you talking about?” she
snapped, clearly irritated that I was acting like none of it mattered.
“Well, maybe you should’ve waited and asked what my real plan was.”
As I said that, I pinched her nipple hard enough to make her wince.
That was my way of punishing her.
Her eyes widened as my words settled in.
“Wait-what do you mean?” she asked softly. “You’re playing a game with her?”
This time, she grabbed my hand and pulled it back against her chest, trapping it between her breasts.
“Tell me,” she urged.
I leaned over her and kissed her forehead, then the tip of her nose before finally pressing my lips against hers.
Heat slowly spread through her body beneath me.
“Of course,” I murmured. “Remember? We wanted to take over everything she has.”
The moment I said that, hope flickered across her face. Her eyes lit up with relief and excitement.
“Just trust me, okay?”
As soon as those words left my mouth, she smiled.
I guessed that was enough.
A little hope was all it took for her to come back to me.
Still, I didn’t want to let Silver go either.
I knew she would bring it up again later. She always did.
Every time told her I was playing a game, she would forget about it
ernet
within and get upset with me
all over again.
She could never truly share me.
That was my effect on her.
Once someone loved me, they could never stop loving me.
Which was exactly why Madeline confused me so much.
How had she managed to move on from me so easily?
Afterward, we cleaned up, showered, and got dressed.
My mother had been blowing up my phone nonstop, demanding that I accompany her to meet Lady Abigail.
Time was running out, after all.
We did not have the luxury of waiting around, so every decision had to be made quickly.
Well, things had taken a strange turn.
With both leaders dead, my mother finally had a real chance of becoming one herself.
That meant we no longer had to fight Silver’s father for the position.
There were two vacant spots anyway.
Because of that, I came to meet Lady Abigail, who was being
informed about everything thel
happened.

I still needed to check my phone and catch up on all the news spreading around. From what I had heard, some of the pack members were furious with Madeline.
Apparently, she went to speak with them, and they abducted her afterward.
I hoped that was not true.
But my mother would not even let me sit alone for a moment.
She wanted her name added to the list of candidates, and she wanted it done quickly.
“Why are you making faces instead of answering me?” my mother finally snapped at Lady Abigail.
We had been sitting with her for past ten minutes, yet she had
completely ignored my mother ne
kept her attention on Lord John, who
had Silver seated beside him.
Silver had been unusually quiet.
Ever since I used a little of my magic on her, she had softened toward me a little.
Then again, I realized I did not even need to do that.
If my mother secured a place on the council, I would not have to care about Lord John anymore.
