Chapter 831
Ron:
The ship was larger than anything I had ever stepped into, especially anything that moved.
It was also a huge responsibility to enter the human world, speak with them, make plans, and form an alliance.
One fuckup, and things could go terribly wrong.
I took a deep breath as the ship pulled away from the shores of werewolf land.
I stood near the railing with Yuvonne beside me, watching the familiar land grow smaller in the distance.
As a werewolf, I had run in my wolf form, crossed mountains, and fought monsters without hesitation.
Yet leaving familiar land for a completely different place, where even the people were different from us, gave me an uneasy feeling.
“You’ll do fine,” Yuvonne whispered, hugging my arm. I gently placed my hand over hers and gave it a firm squeeze.
She had no clue, but she wasn’t here only because she was my wife and my Luna. She was here because she was my comfort. I needed her opinion.
An Alpha without his Luna is nothing.
Lunas are the backbone, the firm support that keeps an Alpha standing, and after losing her briefly, I felt blessed to have her beside me today.
Beyond the sea waited human land, unfamiliar cities, and people who would judge
me.
Many were descendants of humans who had left our land and built families there, and their children and grandchildren had never met a werewolf.
To them, we were monsters.
The human land came into view, and we both held each other’s hands.
The moment we stepped onto their land, everything felt wrong in a way I couldn’t really explain.
We were supposed to feel the energy around us, but here, it was different.
The harbor was crowded with men in dark uniforms, several human guards standing
in formation near the dock as if they had been waiting for us.
Beside them stood a neatly dressed man who stepped forward with a smile.
“I’m doctor Daniel,” he introduced himself. “I serve as the president’s right-hand man. I’ll be handling most of the arrangements during your stay.”
To be honest, he didn’t look very threatening.
“Well, nice to meet you, Daniel. I’m Alpha Ron, and this is my Luna, Yuvonne,” I said, wrapping an arm around her.
The scents here were completely different.
There was no familiar trace of wolves, pack territory, ranks, or anything we recognized.
Instead, the air carried dozens of unfamiliar human scents mixed with smoke, fuel, salt, food, and the different colognes they wore.
Yuvonne moved a little closer to me, her shoulder brushing mine as she stayed by my side.
Being surrounded by humans was one thing.
Standing in a place where every unfamiliar scent and face reminded us that we were no longer in a world that belonged to us was something else entirely.
Dr. Daniel led us to a line of cars waiting outside the harbor, and within minutes, we were on our way.
The journey was surprisingly quick, giving me enough time to look out the window and observe the way humans lived.
There were homes, people walking around, and others chatting with each other.
They didn’t have ranked
neighborhoods divided between Alphas and Betas, but there was still a concept of rich, middle-class, and poor people.
The rest of their world looked surprisingly similar to ours.
If I hadn’t been given this heightened sense of smell, I would never have been able to tell whether the woman chatting with a handsome man outside was human or werewolf.
When the car finally stopped, I looked out at the quiet mansion in front of us.
It was enormous, built in a modern style with clean lines, wide glass windows, and a sharp gray, black, and white color scheme.
The walls were mostly white and gray, while the dark frames around the windows
and doors gave the place a sleek, expensive look.
“Welcome Dr. Daniel said as he stepped out of the car. “You’ll
staying here with the presidente net
during your visit.” Hegestured for us follow him inside.
I had thought humans might have evolved in some completely different way, but it
seemed we had all developed more similarly than I expected.
There wasn’t much they were doing differently from us, at least from what I had seen so far.
I held Yuvonne’s hand and helped her out of the car while the guards grabbed our bags and followed us.
The moment we entered the foyer, both of us stopped.
“Oh, I think I left my bag in the car,” Yuvonne said, clutching my hand.
“I’ll go get it for you,” I told her, turning around, but she stopped me with a small hand gesture.
“I got this,” she said, walking away confidently.
I watched the guards glance at her.
Of course, they were aware that she was a werewolf, a she-wolf walking among them.
They met my gaze and immediately looked away when they realized I had caught them staring.
Then I heard the distinct click of heels approaching, each step carrying a confidence.
“Hi. Welcome to our land. I’m the president’s wife, Madeline—” Her words died the moment I snapped my head toward her.
I could have recognized that voice from miles away.
But there she stood in a beautiful black pencil skirt, a silver belt hanging loosely around her waist and tilting slightly to one side.
Her hair was curled, her makeup flawless, and she looked like someone who had never spent a single day in the rogue community.
I gasped.
Even her extended hand froze. She slowly pulled it back before a wide smile spread across her lips.
“Ron!” she screamed.
A laugh escaped me as I approached her and quickly wrapped my arms around her. That was when the guards started pulling out their guns.
