Chapter 797
Ron:
I was happier than I had been in a long time.
Rosetta had slowly started telling everyone that Yuvonne had been kept hidden because someone had chained her up and tried to kill her.
That same person had somehow taken her mother’s face and given Yuvonne’s face to her mother.
It was a whole twisted story. I wasn’t sure whether everyone believed it, but that didn’t matter.
What mattered was that people were finally finding out that Yuvonne was alive.
At the same time, there was a lot of tension going around.
Children were suffering more and more, and people seemed to have realized that because Madeline was special, her children were special too.
They had only experienced a few reactions in the beginning.
After that, her children had lived relatively normal lives.
But now, their symptoms were returning, leaving everyone even more agitated.
And they hadn’t even found out yet that Madeline was no longer here.
Now that I had returned, Rosetta had convinced everyone to give me another chance.
I wanted to redeem myself and reclaim my crown, especially because people were slowly beginning to remind me that not only could I lose my crown permanently, but I would also have to go through the same decrowning process Baxter had endured.
Rosetta didn’t want that for me.
Right now, we needed all hands on deck.
In the same way, Byron was going to reclaim his pack, although that would be difficult for him.
I didn’t know how he would face his friend again, the same man who had betrayed him and was now sitting comfortably in his pack.
But first, I had to take matters into my own hands and prove that I was willing to do everything I could to help these people.
Otherwise, if I were dethroned, we might lose our chance to help Madeline as well.
Lady Eugenia was still out there, and she had Bodhi with her.
We needed to get that child back and find a way to bring Madeline home.
“Best of luck,” Yuvonne encouraged, giving me a gentle smile.
“Thank you,” I murmured, cupping her face in my hand and kissing her forehead
before setting out on my first task since returning as an Alpha.
I was going to Baxter’s family mansion to see this monster for myself.
Plenty of warriors accompanied me, armed with guns, daggers, and wolfsbane
bombs because we didn’t want to take any chances.
Having a Lycan in werewolf territory was already going to frighten people, so we had
to handle the situation with extreme care.
When I arrived at the mansion, the warriors opened the gate for me.
But the minute I stepped inside, my heart dropped.
Right there in the foyer sat a man with a smirk on his lips, dressed in Baxter’s old clothes.
Yes, I recognized those clothes, and fuck yeah, I recognized the man wearing them.
He was none other than Sawyer, the man who had come from the human world with Madeline as her husband in the past.
“Hey, stop! Don’t try anything!” one of the warriors immediately yelled as I prepared my wolf in case we had to fight.
“I’m not going to fight any of you. I’m harmless,” Sawyer responded, pointing at himself.
My mind was already reeling.
So a Lycan had been living in the human world, and that same Lycan had married Madeline.
What were the odds?
Two powerful beings had somehow ended up together.
“How did you get out of those chains?” I demanded, clenching my fists.
“Calm down, Alpha Ron. Wow, you look rough now,” Sawyer remarked, clearly recognizing me. “And I didn’t force my way out of the chains. A very kind lady freed me.”
He crossed one leg over the other while the warriors remained visibly agitated around him.
“Who helped you?” I pressed.
Sawyer turned his head, and Lady Eugenia emerged from behind him.
The minute I saw her, my steps faltered.
Then anger took over, and I briskly moved toward her.
However, the warriors immediately blocked my path.
“Please, stop,” one of them pleaded, his eyes darting toward Sawyer, who had straightened in his seat. “If you attack her, be’ll let his Lycan out the warrior whispered. fo FindNovel.net
I closed my eyes, trying to swallow my anger.

“What is going on? Why are you so angry with me?” Lady Eugenia asked innocently, pouting.
“You tried to kill Yuvonne!” I screamed.
She appeared to drift into thought, or rather, pretended to.
“I don’t recall doing anything like
that, but go on. You don’t have proof. You hate me, so of course you’re going to make shit up. She shrugged. “Anyway, I just wanted to say that this man over here is harmless.”
I stared at her, then Sawyer, and finally the warriors before pointing at Eugenia.
“Did you hear her? Now she thinks she gets to make the decisions,” I scoffed, irritated by her attempt to make herself sound important.
“Well, I will, because it seems like all
of you have failed. None of you know what you’re doing. You’re not helping anyone. In fact,” Eugenia snapped her fingers before crossing oneteg over the other, “you havent even done anything for the people whose children are suffering. But Sawyer over here has a plan.”
Her fucking annoying voice was giving me a headache.
What angered me even more was the way she made it sound as though Sawyer was someone we could actually trust.
