Chapter 810
Madeline:
“I think the monster just realized the human world is much safer than the werewolf land, and he just wanted to help.” She spoke very softly, almost eerily, making me frown at her.
“Huh,” I uttered to myself.
“Anyway, would you like to come with me to see Kaylee?” I asked her.
“Yeah, sure,” she replied. “Have you known Kaylee for a long time?” she asked as she gathered her files and put them in her bag.
That was when the door opened and Baxter marched in, wearing all black and looking so fucking handsome that I could just throw him on the table and do him right here, but I wouldn’t do that.
He looked at me and then gestured for the new manager to wait for him outside.
“What’s going on here?” he asked as he noticed both Livia and me getting ready to leave.
“They are getting started on their own side project, Kaylee,” Daniel said to Baxter. The two seemed to have become great friends.
It was weird how just a few weeks ago, I had no one and thought my husband’s memories were all I had.
Now I had found out that my entire family was alive, while my husband had made some good friends of his own.
“Um, why am I not included in it?” Baxter asked, making me look at him before looking down.
I only gave him a quick glance, and I could tell that was bothering him.
He would immediately frown whenever I tried to look away from him.
“Well, that’s because you guys have other business to attend to. You have to prepare for the meeting with the humans,” I said, continuing to zip up the bag.
“You ready, Livia?” I asked her and she nodded.
Little did she know I wasn’t taking her all the way to the basement just to make her stand there while I spoke with Kaylee.
“I can do that and also be with you,” Baxter added as he started to grab his own laptop bag.
“I would like to do it only with Livia, though,” I requested, stopping at the door and watching his shoulders slump.
“Well, I think you’ll be more comfortable if I’m around,” Baxter added, keeping his eyes on my face.
This was the longest I had looked him in the eye.
“No, Baxter,” I said as I shook my head. “I don’t think you know the history between me and Kaylee, so it would be better if it’s just me and Livia, a doctor.”
As I spoke, I made sure Livia knew that I was only taking her because I needed a doctor by my side.
Otherwise, she would question why I wanted to take her instead of Baxter.
“Yeah,
bet can find out the history
between you two when you
speak
with her,” Baxter insisted, making me give him a rather sarcastic smile swhovels
“Well,
memories still
have me back, I don’t want et
thong
put pressure on you by telling you” e history between you an
Kaylee.”
The minute I said that, I watched the color drain from his face.
I wasn’t trying to play games with him, insult him, or hurt him in any way.
I was trying to get through to his wolf, since he had kept memories from Baxter.
Now it was time for me to keep
memories from him because when
Baxter was in a coma, even his wolf
didnt know what else had
happened.

I watched the agitation in Baxter’s eyes, indicating that his wolf had started to think back on their history.
The confusion remained in Baxter’s eyes as I walked out of the room with Livia behind me.
Once we were in the hallway, I noticed something.
The way Livia and I walked was funny because we were kind of in sync.
I mean, it wasn’t anything extraordinary, just one of those little things I noticed about
her.
We both got into my car and were dropped off at home.
My kids were at the playground with the nannies.
Thankfully, the last few days had brought a lot of changes for my children.
I didn’t want to be away from them for even a moment.
Every time I sat in front of Gina, I would just smile at her. I couldn’t get enough of looking at her.
Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night, scared that I had woken up from a beautiful dream.
Thankfully, it was all real.
“You first,” I said as I opened the door for Livia.
She stared at my face in silence before stepping inside. I followed her into the mansion, locking the door behind us.
“Umm Nina is living with you guys?” Livia asked me, walking ahead but slowing down so I could lead the way.
I put my bag on the couch and walked behind her before slowly taking over and stepping in front of her.
