Chapter 761
Baxter:
A Few Days Ago:
“So, you guys have two deadly monsters wandering around the human world now?”
I asked Daniel after watching the video.
Seeing a lycan somehow stirred something inside me.
It was as if my wolf was far more excited to have someone powerful as a rival.
“Well, for you, a simple wolfsbane shot can suppress your wolf,” Daniel replied, adjusting the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“But a lycan has to be careful.”
I tapped a finger against my chin, thinking it over.
“Hmm. What if he isn’t careful?” I asked, clicking my tongue as I nodded to myself.
Daniel frowned in bewilderment.
“What do you mean?” he questioned.
I began pacing around the room, running a hand through my hair as an idea formed in my head.
“Think about it. If humans find out there’s a monster among them, they’ll want him gone.”
I turned to face Daniel.
“They’d never want a monster to be their president, right?”
Daniel fell silent, giving it some thought.
A few moments later, he nodded confidently.
“But lycans have far more control over themselves than werewolves,” he said with a sigh, looking around the basement.
“Then we need something to trigger it when he’s among people,” I added, realizing the video could be debunked.
People would simply claim we had edited it or manipulated it in some way.
I needed to find a way for him to reveal his lycan side in front of others, so they would realise just how dangerous and terrifying he was.
Then, when we showed the video, it would serve as confirmation that he had taken one of their people to the attic, and God only knew what he had done to him.
“Daniel, what do you know about your researcher, Madeline?” I asked, looking down as though I were only going through the files.
Basically, just the files of the patients they kept there.
“I haven’t met her personally. I only know that she received a lot of awards. She was
a woman of exceptional calibre, very decent and well put together. As far as I know, everything was going well while she was in the human world.”
Daniel did nothing but praise her, which completely contradicted what my wolf had told me.
Or maybe this was simply how she had lived here.
“When did she arrive here, if you have any information?” I questioned, my eyes narrowing at him.
‘So you don’t believe me? You’re going to ask someone else?’ my wolf howled inside me.
“So—,” I watched Daniel speak, but suddenly my head began to ache.
My wolf was trying to take control of my body, and the first thing he took over was my hearing.
I could no longer hear what Daniel was saying.
In fact, I realised a small part of wolfsbane had to remain in my body all the time.
I immediately stood and began taking deep, heavy breaths.
‘The next time you try something like this, and whoever you’re getting the information from, I will kill them, my wolt hissed, warning me swnövels
Daniel’s eyes widened.
He had probably seen my eye colour change too.
And I wouldn’t blame him if he thought that if Sawyer was dangerous, then so was I.
After that, I didn’t say anything.
I could never take on the full shot of my wolfsbane because he would go crazy inside me.
He kept a very close watch on me.
At times, I realised half of my mind was completely in his grasp.
He had taken partial control, which was why I sometimes had wild thoughts about
attacking people.
I didn’t tell Daniel.
During the next few hours, while we discussed the plan, I didn’t want him to think that, along with getting rid of
2ver, he also needed to get ud of
me.
IMS
All I knew was that I wasn’t supposed to ask anyone about my past because it
triggered Axe’s trauma over broken trust and betrayal.
Or maybe there had to be someone my wolf loved enough to stay silent and let me
hear about my past without hurting them.
But I knew Madeline wasn’t that person.
“What is your problem with Sawyer?” my wolf grunted.
I froze in shock.
“Well, he has my children,” I replied.
“Well, right he muttered. “Children are important. I mean, that’s the only thing keeping me sane ight now.” The thought of holding my daughter, Gina, again.”
For the first time, I truly heard emotion in his voice.
Daniel and I eventually decided that we had to find Livia first.
Livia had a stash that had originally belonged to Madeline, and she had the keys to
it.
It contained triggers and medicines to control every kind of beast.
As Daniel spoke about Madeline’s work, I felt my chest tighten with pride.
Every time he mentioned Madeline and said something was her creation, I couldn’t help but feel proud of her.
A smirk tugged at my lips, as though I wanted to stop him and say, ‘You’re talking about my wife. She did all that.’
But my wolf stopped me, reminding me that she had also cheated on me.
I didn’t know.
Part of me wanted to proudly tell the entire world about my wife’s accomplishments.
But the other part, the one my wolf controlled, kept reminding me that I was a simp.
