Chapter 706
Ron:
After hearing everything Madeline had to say, I realized none of it was her fault.
She was only trying to do what she believed was necessary to get her revenge and her children back.
At the same time, I realized I had to do what I needed to do to avenge my own family.
While Madeline would deal with Graham, I would deal with the monster, Lady Eugenia.
I sat down on the bed and checked my phone. My fingers hovered over the screen for a moment before I walked outside.
The monster was in the tree.
Yet even at night, we were no longer afraid to go outside because of it.
That fear had faded over time, replaced by the trust the monster had earned from
us.
I knew Madeline hated it, and so did I, for what it had done to Baxter and Gina.
But then again, the monster wasn’t human. What did it know?
‘If it’s really that clueless, don’t you think it would attack everyone?’ my wolf snapped.
“What are you trying to say?” I asked my wolf.
‘I’m just saying the monster definitely isn’t as mindless as we think. It knows things. Otherwise, why the heck would it be so lenient toward Madeline? And how the heck does it know not to attack the people connected to her? How does it even figure out who’s here to attack her and who’s here to protect her?’
My wolf was making so much sense that I felt like the idiot.
My eyes shifted to the monster, and I stared at it.
It was sleeping with its beak tucked beneath its feathers, its neck twisted all the way back.
“But why do you think it’s so lenient toward Madeline? I mean, it attacked her in the past,” I said, trying to get my wolf’s opinion.
‘I’m not sure, but I know something changed in it,’ my wolf replied. ‘Otherwise, after seeing Graham with her today, it would have immediately known Graham was someone Madeline hated. Yet it didn’t attack him.’
The monster is far more understanding than we are, which is why Madeline seems to be so upset with it.
‘It can differentiate between right and wrong,’ my wolf finished.
I continued staring at the monster, watching it ruffle its feathers every once in a while.
I honestly felt bad for it.
But what was the story behind it?
I knew the monster had once been human.
A werewolf, at one point in its life.
Like Nala said, it had probably been turned into a monster a decade ago. Maybe two decades.
Maybe even longer. Or perhaps less.
Either way, it had been at least a decade, which meant its family could still be somewhere out there.
I let out a deep breath and grabbed my phone, deciding to put an end to the monster’s misery.
I called Mathew.
“Dude, why are you calling me at this hour of the night?” Mathew complained sleepily.
“I hope you didn’t take my playfulness the wrong way and decide to hit on me.” Mathew being Mathew, he started rambling even though he was half asleep. Somehow, he still found the energy to get on my nerves.
“I have to find a way to transfer the curse. have to find a way to
from the monster to Lady Fot

Silence fell on the other end of the line.
“I’m sorry, but I’m neither the
monster nor Lady Eugenia. Why are you telling me all this?” he asked, making me tighten my grip on my phone content belongs to

“I need someone I can rely on, and Madeline says you’re a reliable person,” I whispered, waiting for his response.
“You know what, man? I really hate these people. Let’s put them through hell. Tell me what I need to do, and I’ll be there for you.”
To my surprise, Mathew agreed without hesitation.
That was exactly what I wanted. Someone on my side who understood me.
“I don’t think Nala will tell us anything more,” Mathew uttered.
I shrugged, staring out at the mountains from the edge of the cliff.
“I don’t care. We just need to figure out how to transfer the curse. As for Nala and M Madeline, we don’t
need to tell them finish every
for Mathew to respond.
Instead, I heard a gasp behind me.
When I turned around, I saw Nala standing there, her face tensed up.
“So you’re planning something this vicious without us knowing?”
The moment she spoke, I realized how loud she was.
If she kept yelling like that, the people sleeping in the canopies would wake up.
In a panic, I felt like I had only one choice, even though I knew I was going to regret
it.
I lunged at her, clamped my hand over her mouth, and knocked her unconscious.
