Chapter 803
Sawyer:
I hated that smug face. I would rather have never seen him before.
But Lady Eugenia had filled me in.
After Baxter left, Byron was the one sleeping with Madeline.
He had maneuvered his way into her life, and then the two started having sex regularly.
And then Ron, when he thought Yuvonne was dead, started joining in on the fun.
I didn’t believe that shit.
I had figured Lady Eugenia hated Madeline.
At one point, I wondered if I asked about any random person, she would say that, yes, they had been with Madeline.
But I knew Madeline.
We didn’t spend that much time together, only a few years, but she wasn’t that type.
Still, I could tell Byron must have liked her.
No wonder he was hovering around Rosetta now.
I noticed the way he defended her when she didn’t have answers.
“I’m just saying that I can help, especially when the humans are now planning so much shit against us.”
The minute I mentioned that, I watched Rosetta frown and then turn toward the council members.
“What are you talking about? No, they’re not,” she protested, sounding defensive. “They sent a letter recently. What did it say?” I pressed, watching her turn toward her mother.
I guessed she was finally realizing we weren’t that clueless.
We had inside information.
“Well, the humans want to make contact with us. That is it.” Rosetta straightened her back. “As you may know, Madeline ended up in the human world along with her daughter. So they contacted us, saying they want to meet us. I guess it’s because some of our people are there and some of their people are here. It’s a whole thing, and we will resolve it.”
Rosetta tried to speak calmly.
She kind of carried the same grace as Madeline, but it wasn’t quite there.
Madeline had a different kind of approach.
She could turn me on no matter how she talked.
Rosetta was good, though.
She was lucky she somehow resembled Madeline a little.
I tilted my head toward Lady Eugenia, wondering if she could see it too.
But she seemed completely oblivious to it.
She just sat there, looking at the people with her chin held high because she was finally being respected again.
“The truth is that one of us left. She ran away from the werewolf land and went to the human world with a werewolf child. The same woman who was supposed to help you all,” Lady Eugenia finally revealed.
And, well, of course, she had started spewing hatred toward Madeline.
The only reason I was angry with Madeline was that not only had she married Baxter because, well, let’s just be honest, Nina fucked that up, but she had also fallen in love with him again.
From what I’d heard, it was like Madeline would go to any lengths to be with him. That angered me.
How could she forgive him?
How could she go back to loving him?
How could she completely cut me out of her existence?
“I’m pretty sure they’re gonna ask for
Bodhi,” I warned, nodding as I laid
out the possibility so that when it happened, everybody would find. suspicious. “The audacity of a savior to not only take one of us to the human world but also refuse to help the children here.”
I clicked my tongue, shaking my head.
“Wait, Madeline was not taken there by her own choice. She was—” Ron suddenly
fell silent when I smirked and raised an eyebrow at him.
I wanted them to bring up the monster again so that his involvement would scare people away.
“Anyway, I gave you my honest answer. In one week, you will have no problem with either the monster or the curse,” I declared as I got up.
“I would say focus on the curse and leave the monster alone.” Rosetta immediately got up and squared up to me. “Because I don’t want the monster to get angry,” she quickly added.
“That’s beyond the point, Rosetta. You seriously are unaware of things. I mean a dead woman is alive and now under your watch. You let the people look so bad. So I would say you let us handle things now Lady Eugenia admonished her daughter.
There was so much tension between the two.
Rosetta seemed like a fish out of water the minute I mentioned the monster.
So I just had to confirm one little thing.
“Or perhaps Rosetta can help us kill the monster too. I mean, she’s the only council leader standing right now Of course, if I’m able to help. you guys with the curse, would want Lady Eugenia to become the second council leader. But that’s completely up to you guys.”
I spoke as genuinely as I could, watching the people nod.
Just hearing that I would get rid of the curse brought bright smiles to their faces.
“And then you can be the Alpha King!” one of the men planted by Lady Eugenia yelled.
