Chapter 808
Rosetta:
“He can bleed. We saw him bleed earlier,” I pointed out, referring to the previous incident.
“You’re still not getting it. While all of this is happening, as he drinks from the well, his curse has to be transferred to someone else at the exact same time,” she clarified.
When she finished, she watched all of us zone out.
“Well, I’ll take the curse myself.”
As soon as I said it, I placed a hand on my chest.
Byron’s head snapped toward me.
“No!” he objected, almost too loudly.
“The thing is, the other person must willingly take the cursed herb as well, from the hands of someone they love deeply,” Nala finished, making me shake my head.
“But my father never took it willingly,” I countered with a smile, trying to find a loophole.
“Well, that was because your father wasn’t transferring another monster’s curse to himself. The other monster died. That’s how your father became the monster. But for one monster to return to his human form while the curse is transferred to someone else, they have to follow a certain protocol. And I’m not even sure it’s possible because—” She sighed, shaking her head. “Because we don’t even know if it’ll work. Even if he returns to his human form, I’m not sure he’ll survive after living like a rogue, wild animal for so long.”
Her eyes began to water.
I drew a deep breath and smiled to myself as tears started running down my cheeks.
“So there’s no hope?” I asked, my voice breaking.
“I’m sorry. This is all I know. I couldn’t verify it.”
Nala hugged herself, pouting as she lowered her head.
Yuvonne immediately rushed over and hugged her, while Byron turned to me and took my hand.
I stared down at his hand, drew a deep breath, and slowly pulled mine away.
I watched his eyes tighten before I straightened my back.
“The humans have asked to meet with us. I want to do it in secret without Sawyer finding out, so if that’s okay, we’ll set out before Sawyer takes over as the Alpha King. After that, he’ll be included in every decision. But right now, he’s still at the mansion, and he has no right to question anything I do.”
I explained to them why I hadn’t rushed to appoint new council leaders either.
Until then, I was still the council leader, and everything remained under my authority. They all nodded faintly.
“Do you want us to come?” Yuvonne offered.
I smiled and gestured for her not to worry.
“No, please let us come. We don’t know what we’ll do here,” Yuvonne pleaded, pouting at me.
I thought about it, then nodded.
Ron was back in power in his pack, although he was having a hard time facing his people.
He was also trying to gather information about those who had wronged Madeline so he could punish them.
At the same time, Byron was looking for a way to reclaim his crown.
But we were going to leave Nala here so she could take care of these matters.
“Then we’ll set out in a few hours. We’ll meet the new president there,” I announced, smoothing my dress.
“The humans told us they wanted us to go there because they were more afraid of the powerful people around them if they came here. Over there, they feel relatively safe. Unless they’ve planned something nasty, which wouldn’t be wise, because if they played us, our people would attack them too.”
“I’ll come too,” Byron insisted.
I didn’t look at him. Instead, I looked up at Ron.
“Actually, the thing is, he’s still not
เท
you
the Alpha, so it would only be me, and Yuvonne,” Lexplained without directly mentioning Byron.
His body tensed at my words, and I could feel his anxiety too.
“You’ll stay here and help Nala with everything because we have enemies here as well,” Ron told him, realizing there was tension between us.
“I also have Mathew. Remember, he
was Elgin’s Royal Beta? He knows a
lot about Alphas and all that stuff, so
hebe very helpful too Nala
chimed in.

It wasn’t like we were unaware of her little affair with him. We were fine with it.
The two of them looked really cute together.
Usually, she was the one throwing a tantrum, and he was the one calming her down.
There was something extremely comforting about watching them together.
He knew how to handle her.
After that, we got ready and set out.
I wore the same black gown as before.
As soon as we reached the border, I smiled at Ron and Yuvonne.
“Actually, I have some work,” I replied, touching my forehead. “And It’s really important.”
The two of them looked at me with their hands on their hips.
“Yeah, there’s one more thing,” I admitted wearily. “I almost forgot about it.”
I let out a breath.
“I’m forbidden from leaving these woods.”
The moment I said that, Ron threw his head back.
“How? Is there anything else?” he questioned tiredly.
“Dude.” Yuvonne smacked Ron’s chest with the back of her hand before rushing
over and hugging me.
“I’ll go and speak with my sister.
Trust me, we’ll find a way to get you
out of here too. But please send
Byron with us. We’ll need someone,
else there with us,” she insisted.
I cleared my throat.
“See, Byron—I’m not sure,” I murmured. “It’s actually—”
I tried to continue when I noticed Ron’s eyes narrow.
“Yeah, Byron shouldn’t come. He gets really emotional. I think it’ll be better if he stays here.”
I think Ron understood.
I didn’t want to be toxic, but I was jealous at the thought of sending Byron to my
sister without me, even though I knew she wasn’t like that.
It was simply my own jealousy.
I had never had anyone love me or treat me the way Byron did.
And I guess Ron understood why I didn’t want Byron to go. Because in the end, I wasn’t going either.
