Chapter 795
Eugenia:
“I don’t understand,” I said, sitting on the floor with the man.
I had sent Bodhi upstairs because I didn’t want him to hear what the stranger had to
say.
I already knew that he was Madeline’s husband from the human world.
He had told me that much right from the beginning, which was why I’d sent Bodhi away.
But now, listening to him, I realized he had been cast away after the humans got their hands on him when he transitioned into a Lycan.
So, currently, the most powerful man in the world was sitting in front of me, bound in chains.
“Free me,” he urged, making me tap a finger against my chin.
“Why would I do that? You’ll simply kill me,” I countered, pouting as I shook my head.
I had already told him what had happened to his wife, how she had punished her abusers, and how my daughter had ended up becoming a council leader only to play me.
“If you free me, you do realize you’ll have the most powerful man on your side. And the people here need that. They want someone to take care of them. Your daughter being the only council leader right now isn’t going to be enough for them,” he explained in a low, husky voice.
After initially showing affection toward Sawyer and trying to reach him, Bodhi had stopped struggling.
He hadn’t asked me again to let him into the basement. He came back down just as we were done talking.
“Bodhi, I told you to stay upstairs,” I reminded him.
He sat on the stairs, resting his elbows on his knees and burying his face in his hands.
“I remember everything,” he announced in his childish voice.
“What do you remember?” I questioned, turning toward him from where I sat on the lowest step.
“He wasn’t a very good daddy,” Bodhi admitted, stealing a glance at Sawyer. “He used to upset Mommy a lot. He would yell at her and scare us. He always said that rules had to be followed. We weren’t allowed to go anywhere. And then he had a friend who always upset Mom because he used to spend a lot of time with her.”
As soon as Bodhi finished, it struck me.
Sawyer had been having an affair with someone.
And he had treated Madeline like shit, exactly the way she deserved to be treated.
My head immediately snapped toward Sawyer.
“He’s a child. He doesn’t understand,” Sawyer tried to defend himself, but I raised my palm to silence him.
“You know how to control Madeline?”
As soon as I asked, Sawyer tilted his head and raised an eyebrow.
“Good little child. Go upstairs,” I instructed, dismissing Bodhi with a wave of my hand.
He slowly got up and walked upstairs while I descended the remaining steps toward Sawyer.
“I hate that woman,” I confessed, watching Sawyer’s eyes widen. “She’s the reason my son died. She was bad news for him anyway,” I hissed, my anger intensifying at the thought of her.
“So, if I free you,” I continued,
pointing at Sawyer, “you promise to take this place under your wing as the Alpha King, but you appoint mě as the council leader. And trust me, I have plenty of things we can use to make these people like you.”
As soon as I finished, Sawyer’s eyes gleamed, and a smirk played across his lips.
“Is Madeline here?” he asked in his rough, gruff voice.
“She is, and she thinks she’s untouchable,” I replied, a smirk playing on my lips.
I fell silent for a moment before he let out a loud laugh, suggesting that he
understood exactly what I meant.
“Well then let’s get started,” he
declared, smiling to himself. “After all, I have a woman to punish..
wife cheated on me. I won’t let that slide.

It was obvious.
He was the man I had been waiting for, the one who had finally come to make things right.
“Well then, free me, and let’s show these people who control them now,” Sawyer commanded, making me smile as I approached him.
Now that I was within his reach, he could attack me if he wanted to.
But I knew he wasn’t going to.
Still, I had to make sure he was in good health.
“I’ll get you someone to feast on.”
The moment I said it, his eyes widened for the second time.
“Don’t worry. I’m just kind like that,” I assured him.
I had no problem bringing someone for him to feed on.
In my opinion, it was every man for himself.
Everyone had to feed somehow, and I wasn’t going to shame anyone for
participating in the natural cycle of life.
Then I walked upstairs and started looking for the keys.
They were hanging right behind the entrance door.
These people really thought he wouldn’t be able to break free from those chains.
I could also tell that they had locked the door from the outside earlier.
Once I had the keys, I could easily sneak out through one of the other doors.
I knew the ins and outs of this mansion, and I was pretty sure they had already told
everyone to stay away from the place.
I grabbed the keys and started walking downstairs.
“Don’t free him. He’s scary. You can never trust him,” Bodhi warned from the
second-floor staircase, his lips curling downward.
“He’s your father. Don’t worry. He’s not going to hurt you,” I reassured him with a smile even though knew the little boy was afraid that Sawyer would hurt his mother.
And that was exactly what I wanted Sawyer to do.
