Chapter 213
Chapter 213:
“I was just walking by,” Minnie muttered, shrinking back.
“You’re not telling the truth, are you?” Fernanda stepped closer, making Minnie even more uneasy. “Why so secretive if you were merely passing by? I don’t buy your story p>
Her words were deliberate, her tone authoritative, causing Minnie to tremble visibly.
Cristian’s shadow loomed over Minnie, adding to her feeling of being trapped.
They stood before her like prosecutors before a suspect. Minnie looked both frightened and flustered, her whole body shaking.
“Speak!” Fernanda demanded sharply, causing Minnie to nearly leap with fright.
“I’ll tell you,” Minnie hurriedly blurted out. “Ava sent me to check on you. I came only because she asked. I have nothing to do with this p>
Ava, yet again.
Fernanda rolled her eyes, wondering why Ava hadn’t learned her lesson and continued to provoke her repeatedly.
Cristian extended his hand toward Minnie, his voice as frigid as ice. “Give me your phone,” he commanded.
With trembling fingers, Minnie fumbled for her phone, unlocked it, and reluctantly placed it into Cristian’s waiting hand.
He opened her photo album and, unsurprisingly, uncovered a series of dark, blurry shots she had just captured.
Although indistinct now, he knew a few tweaks to the exposure and settings would make them crystal clear.
“Did Ava tell you to take these too?” he barked.
Minnie nodded, her shoulders sagging under the weight of his scrutiny. Cristian deleted the photos and their backups without hesitation. “Are there more p>
“No more,” Minnie stammered, shaking her head frantically.
Cristian’s eyes narrowed, his icy gaze piercing through her like a blade. “Are you certain p>
“Really, no more!” Minnie cried, raising her hand as though swearing an oath, her voice quivering on the verge of tears.
“What did Ava tell you?” Fernanda asked.
She couldn’t shake the suspicion that Ava had discovered something—or perhaps sensed how close she and Cristian were becoming.
Minnie sniffled, her head bowed as she confessed, “Ava said… she said you must have lots of men around you. She told me to follow you, gather dirt, and report back to the Harper family. That way, your marriage to Bobby would be called off p>
Fernanda couldn’t help but marvel at Ava’s dogged determination. It was a force to reckon with.
Yet Minnie never expected that her relentless pursuit would lead her to uncover the man by Fernanda’s side—Cristian himself.
Regret gnawed at her.
