Chapter 253
Chapter 253:
Bobby eyed Jeff warily, his demeanor that of a protector facing a potential threat.
After a tense pause, Bobby sharply said, “Who are you? Why are you so close to Fernanda? Step back p>
Bobby now appeared like a leopard fiercely protecting its meal, glaring at the unwanted guest. It was as though any wrong move would trigger him to leap forward and tear that person apart.
The tension thickened with Bobby’s looming presence, making the atmosphere feel heavier.
Unlike Bobby’s simmering rage, Jeff stayed composed and courteous.
“Oh, it’s you, Bobby,” Jeff said smoothly, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses with a small smile. “Let me clarify—I was just helping a friend get back from the hospital together with Fernanda. Now, I’m on my way to visit my sister. Fernanda and I happened to be going in the same direction, so we walked together p>
Jeff’s voice carried a pleasant, slightly raspy tone, but the way he lingered on Fernanda’s name gave it an almost deliberate emphasis. Bobby’s mood soured every time Jeff mentioned Fernanda’s name. Then again, it might just be that he had disliked Jeff from the moment they met.
“You can head off now. I need to talk to my fiancée,” Bobby said, putting extra weight on the words “my fiancée p>
Jeff gave a small, polite nod, acknowledged Fernanda with a glance, and walked away with his usual composure.
His posture was straight and lean, and as he walked, the subtle movements of his tucked-in shirt hinted at his underlying strength.
Bobby stepped in front of Fernanda abruptly, cutting off her view.
“Stop staring. He’s nowhere near as handsome as Cristian,” Bobby muttered. “He’s shorter, his posture isn’t as sharp, he doesn’t look as good, isn’t as rich, and definitely isn’t as kind to you p>
Bobby rattled off Cristian’s virtues one after another, almost convincing himself in the process.
At that moment, he felt like Cristian’s biggest cheerleader.
“We literally just happened to be going the same direction,” Fernanda said, throwing a mildly frustrated look at Bobby. “You’re acting like there’s something going on between us p>
“Fernanda, you’re a woman—you don’t get how men think,” Bobby said, his tone almost grave. “Men are drawn to beautiful women, especially when they’re smart p>
“Too. They all want to win someone like you over. You’re young, gorgeous, rich, and well-connected. To them, you’re a prize p>
“Seriously? Do I seem like someone who’s easy to win over p>
“Not at all. But the tougher the challenge, the more guys are drawn in. It’s like playing a game—easy mode gets boring. The harder the level, the sweeter the victory p>
Bobby was starting to sound like some kind of philosopher. His simple analogy was oddly spot-on.
“Fernanda, just steer clear of guys like that. Don’t give them any signals, or they’ll take it and run with it, making it impossible to shake them off. It’s exhausting p>
