Chapter 670
Cristian remained silent, choosing not to delve into the delicate subject.
The Ross Group’s shareholder meeting had been a whirlwind of figures and forecasts, covering profit summaries for the first half of the year, dissecting various…
The meeting had stretched on for two exhaustive hours, covering gains and losses, and mapping out visions and strategies for the upcoming months. Once it adjourned, Hunk wasted no time in approaching Cristian.
“Mr. Reed, I’ve observed the recent adjustments in the company’s shareholding and noticed your personal investment. I’m absolutely elated,” Hunk exclaimed, his smile wide and welcoming. “I never anticipated your presence at our shareholders’ meeting—it’s genuinely a privilege!”
Hunk was undeniably astute in business dealings. Given the stature and market position of the Ross Group, he could afford mere politeness towards Cristian, yet he chose not to limit his deference. He had a knack for engaging people’s egos, subtly diminishing his own status to uplift those around him.
Cristian, on the other hand, offered a calm response. “Mr. Ross, you flatter me too much.”
“It’s all right,” Hunk assured him with a wave of his hand.
He was aware that Cristian’s firm, Vertex Investments, had backed numerous enterprises. Cristian had acquired only a one-percent share in Ross Group; his presence at the shareholders’ meeting wasn’t necessary. Nevertheless, his attendance spoke volumes about his interest in Ross Group.
Realizing the significance, Hunk recognized the need to nurture a deeper alliance with Cristian to foster Ross Group’s future expansion.
“I just recalled I have another commitment today, so regrettably, I won’t be able to stay for coffee,” Cristian mentioned, his smile tinged with regret. “Perhaps we can arrange another time?”
“Absolutely,” Hunk responded, nodding emphatically. “We’ll find another occasion to meet.”
Cristian rolled out of the garage just as Fernanda approached the main entrance, poised to signal a cab.
The honk of his horn caught her attention, and she ambled over to him. “Weren’t you headed out for coffee?” Fernanda inquired, peering into the car through the open window, yet hesitating to get inside.
“Coffee can wait,” Cristian replied, his voice warm with a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Making sure you get home safely is my priority. Come on, hop in.”
As he spoke, the car door swung open automatically, inviting Fernanda to step inside.
“Really, I can manage with a cab,” Fernanda insisted gently, brushing off his concern. “You really don’t have to go out of your way to give me a ride.”
“Have you not heard about the human traffickers lurking around here?” Cristian countered, his tone laced with worry. “It’s safer if you stay clear of traveling alone.”
Fernanda gave him a look of astonishment. “You’re up to date with that news?”
Without a word, Cristian just shared a reassuring smile.
That evening, Fernanda skipped her visit to the studio due to her double class schedule.
