Chapter 272
Chapter 272:
Fernanda paused and turned, smiling brightly. “Yes p>
Her expression remained warm and genuine—there was no hint of pride or arrogance, even though her status had just been revealed.
Overcome with shame, the receptionist bowed her head. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t recognize you earlier. It was my mistake, and I deeply apologize. I hope you can forgive me p>
“It’s fine,” Fernanda replied, her smile unwavering. “You have your principles, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But next time, a little more courtesy would go a long way. As the receptionist, you represent the company’s first impression p>
Her voice was calm and kind, offering advice rather than reproach. The receptionist’s face flushed deep red; she nodded quickly. “Yes, yes. Thank you for the advice. I understand p>
Fernanda smiled once more and headed inside with the manager. “I’m not here on business today. This is a personal matter,” she explained as they walked.
The manager nodded. “Then I’ll leave you to it. I have urgent matters in my department p>
With a small nod, Fernanda stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.
When she arrived at the executive office, she expected to find Ava at her desk. Instead, she saw her lounging on a sofa in the executive lounge, completely absorbed in her phone. Whatever she was reading had her grinning from ear to ear.
“You seem to be in a good mood,” Fernanda remarked.
Startled, Ava’s phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor with a dull thud. Her head shot up as she saw Fernanda standing a few feet away. Tall and poised, Fernanda exuded effortless confidence. Her long, graceful legs beneath the short skirt caught Ava’s attention, even though she hated to admit how stunning Fernanda looked.
“What are you doing here?” Ava demanded, her voice trembling slightly. A flicker of fear darted across her face.
Fernanda walked forward with unhurried steps.
“Don’t come any closer!” Ava shouted.

Fernanda didn’t falter and continued closing the distance between them. Panic surged through Ava. She clutched her ears and let out a piercing scream that echoed through the lounge.
Startled by the commotion, the secretaries hurried out of their offices, their faces filled with confusion. In the lounge, they found a strikingly beautiful young woman standing confidently, while their boss’s daughter cowered on the sofa, screaming as if she’d seen a ghost.
Ava’s piercing shrieks were so loud they reached the soundproof executive office, where Joselyn had been briefing her subordinates. Joselyn paused mid-sentence, set her documents aside, and rushed out to investigate.
The moment she saw Fernanda, Joselyn’s expression stiffened. She wrapped her arms protectively around her daughter and shot Fernanda a wary look. “What are you doing here p>
“I heard Ava is leaving the country tomorrow. Since we know each other, I thought I’d come to say my farewells,” Fernanda answered nonchalantly. Though her words were cordial, both Joselyn and Ava knew she hadn’t come merely for pleasantries. She was here to unsettle Ava, and they were right about her intentions.
