Chapter 592
Curran’s announcement left everyone in the room speechless. No one saw this coming. Was he really suggesting that Fernanda and Bobby register their marriage right now?
Completely unaware of the storm he’d stirred up, Curran smiled, lost in his delightful plans. “Yes, if you tied the knot, Fer, you could spend loads of time with me, exploring art together. I’ve got it all mapped out for your summer break. We’ll hit the big museums. Hahaha!”
Curran chuckled and shook his head, looking a bit frustrated. He complained to Fernanda, “You have no idea, Fernanda. A few years ago, I took them to a museum. Man, this clueless bunch couldn’t grasp the exhibits at all. Going with them felt like we were trampling on sacred ground. Next time, it should just be us. It’ll be a whole different experience from that fiasco.”
Silence enveloped the room, everyone still processing Curran’s unexpected proposal.
Surprisingly, it was Robert—seemingly the most thrilled—who broke the silence. His eyes sparkled as he looked at Fernanda like she was some kind of masterpiece.
“Mr. Reed’s idea is brilliant,” Robert beamed. “Fernanda, just do what Curran suggests and register your marriage with Bobby as soon as you can!”
Fernanda had barely begun to speak when another voice cut in. “I’m not registering my marriage with her!” It was Bobby.
Fernanda turned to him, taken aback, as Bobby made his stance clear. “I won’t marry Fernanda. I’m calling off this absurd engagement!”
Curran’s reaction was swift. His cane thudded against Bobby’s back, making him yelp.
“What nonsense are you spouting?” Curran glared at him. “Are you drunk or something?”
“I’ve been on soda all night; I’m stone-cold sober!” Bobby retorted.
“Don’t you sass me!” Curran’s cane swung again. Bobby dodged and dashed off, yelling over his shoulder, “I’m telling the truth! I just don’t want to marry her. I don’t feel it, and I won’t do it!”
Curran, livid, got up and gave chase with his cane. The others, worried he might take a tumble, quickly intervened, calming him down with soothing words and urging him to take it easy.
Meanwhile, Martin caught Bobby in a sprint and tossed him back onto the sofa.
The hits from Curran’s cane were brutal. Each strike brought real pain. Bobby had never felt such harsh punishment before—well, except once—for love.
And now, here he was again, caught in a strange twist, all for love. It seemed he was cursed when it came to love. Perhaps he was never meant to find it.
The whole scene was deeply unsettling.
“Sit still!” Martin commanded sharply, fixing Bobby with a glare that made him shiver in fear.
Curran was so livid he nearly choked, while Evie tried to soothe him, patting his back gently.
Evie turned to Bobby with a look of sheer disbelief. “Bobby, do you hear yourself? Fernanda is a gem, and you say you don’t like her? Have you lost your mind? If I could, I’d switch places with you in a heartbeat and marry her myself!” she exclaimed.
Fernanda was visibly shocked.
Robert, too, was taken aback, his previously beaming smile now frozen on his face, rendering him both silly and pitiable.
