Chapter 626
Reluctantly, Levi acknowledged that Neal, with his striking features, was likely the group’s heartthrob.
Today, their agenda was simply to familiarize themselves with the venue and observe their competitors—not to compete.
The tournament was structured as a round-robin, requiring every team to compete against each other, with the most successful team declared the winner.
“I’m eager to scout Fourteen’s team,” Levi admitted, scanning the area. “I’m curious about those youngsters.”
Gifford teased, “Or maybe you’re just hoping to catch a glimpse of Fourteen?”
Levi agreed with a nod. “Exactly. Though, he should update his name to ‘Fifteen’ now that the New Year’s come and gone.”
Alex nodded in agreement. “Exactly my thoughts.”
As the first day’s games got underway, it was evident that the event hadn’t attracted much attention—many seats remained vacant, giving the large stadium a deserted feel.
Even with the small crowd, the commentators spoke with energy, bringing the matches to life.
During a break, one of the organizers approached to speak with Fernanda.
Clement, protective as ever, asked, “What’s this about? Why do you need Fernanda?”
With a reassuring smile, the man responded, “Miss Morgan is one of our sponsors. We need to discuss some aspects of the event with her.”
Clement finally relaxed and lowered his arm, which had been protectively raised in front of Fernanda.
Once Fernanda had departed, Sloane nudged Neal and murmured, “Don’t you find Clement a bit intense?”
Neal, lounging back, gave Clement a quick look.
Clement was young, his sharp gaze darting around, adding to his imposing demeanor. His voice often rose sharply at the end of his sentences, contributing to his stern attitude.
With his head bowed slightly, he would raise his eyes to meet others’ gazes, a gesture that made him appear quite fierce.
“So what if he is?” Neal responded casually. “He’s not fierce towards you, is he?”
“I wouldn’t dream of offending him,” Sloane whispered. “He looks like he’d dive headfirst into a fight.”
Raising an eyebrow, Neal teased, “Since when are you an expert in reading people?”
“I am, actually. And Neal, I detect a hint of romance in your eyes. Seems like love is in the air for you.”
Taken aback, Neal felt slightly uneasy.
When Fernanda returned, Clement was quick to inquire about her discussion.
“They’re concerned about the low turnout at our event,” Fernanda said bluntly. “They’ve asked us to find a way to draw more spectators.”
Neal asked offhandedly, “Got any bright ideas?”
