Chapter 106
Chapter 106:
Selma and Michelle turned towards him, their argument momentarily silenced by his blunt interjection.
“What’s the point of arguing? If she doesn’t want to listen, just drop it,” Kevin said. “Why push something on her that she clearly doesn’t want to hear, only to turn around and blame her for reacting p>
“What’s gotten into you today?” Selma’s brows knitted together as she stared at him, baffled. “Are you defending her now? Do you think it was wrong for me to reprimand her? You saw how she talked back to your father p>
“I’m not defending her,” Kevin replied, his voice as calm as it was indifferent. “I’m just calling it as I see it. If someone kept nagging me about things I didn’t care to hear, I’d lose my temper too p>
Without another word, Kevin pushed his chair back and rose. “I’m done. You can finish without me p>
He strode away from the table and disappeared upstairs.
“What’s with him today?” Selma muttered, glaring at Kevin’s retreating figure. “He must have been influenced by Fernanda! I’ve said it before—that girl’s no good. Kevin’s barely been back a few days, and she’s already rubbed off on him p>
Selma’s words only fueled her growing dislike for Fernanda, pinning the blame for Kevin’s behavior squarely on her.
Already annoyed by Fernanda’s defiance, Robert lost his patience.
Selma’s incessant grumbling grated on his nerves.
With an irritated huff, he slammed his fork onto the table and left without a word.
The meal ended in uneasy silence.

Upstairs, Kevin paused outside Fernanda’s door. He debated whether to knock.
He wondered what rank she was in the game.
The previous night had been consumed by thoughts of her gameplay. How could someone so infuriating also be so precise, so undeniably skilled? It made no sense.
Fernanda was, without a doubt, a gaming prodigy.
Kevin had always been transparent about his feelings. He gravitated toward those he respected and distanced himself from those he didn’t. Fernanda—with her infuriating demeanor and unmatched talent—left him frustratingly torn.
After a prolonged battle with himself, pride ultimately won. He dropped his hand, clenching it into a fist.
He couldn’t bring himself to speak to her. Not now, not ever.
After all, she wasn’t the only skilled player out there. Plenty of experts filled the gaming world. He could easily turn to them for advice.
Yet, the one player he admired most hadn’t been online for days, leaving him stranded without guidance.
