Chapter 627
“Of course,” Fernanda replied. “I suggested they announce that tomorrow’s game will feature ‘True Champion,’ the second-ranked streamer in the region. We’re inviting everyone to come watch him play live.”
Neal was left speechless.
He felt oddly like he was being used as a promotional tool.
“It’s been ages since I’ve used that username,” Neal said. “I switched to just ‘Neal’ after signing with your studio.”
Before this, Neal’s previous streaming contract had limited his earnings, prompting Fernanda to offer him a lucrative deal to join her studio, which led to the change of his gamer tag. The username “True Champion” stuck with the audience.
Despite Neal’s preference for anonymity, showing only his hands during streams, his identity as a student of Esaham University’s Esports Academy was well-known. Crowds often visited the university, hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
Yet, seeing him live on stage brought a whole new level of excitement—it was quite the spectacle.
“Your fans are going to be thrilled,” Fernanda assured him, smiling broadly.
Neal responded with a laugh, “You always have a trick or two to pull.”
“That’s right. How else would I make good use of your fame?” Fernanda joked back, her laughter mingling with his.
Neal appeared at ease, clearly not bothered by her business tactics. He found himself wondering if Cutie, his biggest fan, might turn up to see him play.
As the evening clocked past six, the competition’s opening day wrapped up.
The team returned to the studio, buzzing with thoughts and eager to share their observations from the day’s matches.
“I didn’t catch a glimpse of Fourteen and his team today,” Levi said. “They’re up tomorrow.”
Fernanda grinned, teasing him, “That curious, huh?”
Levi nodded eagerly.
“I might know someone who can help,” Fernanda suggested casually. “I have a contact who is likely part of their team.”
Levi’s interest peaked instantly. “Really? Would you mind checking for me?”
Fernanda had seen Kevin from afar earlier when she had been called to a meeting. Her connection with Kevin was casual, not the sort where greetings were exchanged.
Motivated by Levi’s enthusiasm, she decided to reach out on his behalf. This also presented an opportunity to connect with a friend she knew online.
Fernanda walked towards the spot where she had last seen Kevin. Approaching, she noticed a cluster of young people, deep in discussion.
“Kevin,” she called out warmly, drawing closer.
All heads turned in unison as Fernanda approached.
A flicker of recognition lit up Kevin’s face, and a brief smile crossed his lips before he composed himself.
