Chapter 625
Just as Fernanda walked past, Neal quickly turned his phone off with a decisive click.
Fernanda approached the refrigerator and asked, “Anyone want some fruit? What are you in the mood for?”
Their attention wasn’t on her; instead, they were fixated on Neal, who appeared unusually agitated.
Why was Neal so nervous? It was no big deal that he had a girlfriend. Sloane blinked at Fernanda, signaling her to probe into Neal’s personal life.
Out of nowhere, Neal clicked his mouse and said, “Look, the match schedule’s been released. We’re up on day two.”
Everyone immediately crowded around him.
“Who are we facing?”
“Some high school kids,” Neal said casually.
“Kids or not, we won’t hold back. There’s no room for leniency based on age in competition!” Levi proclaimed with an eager expression.
Resting against the back of Neal’s chair, Gifford nudged Alex, asking, “Did you see? There’s someone named ‘Fourteen’ listed as their captain. Ring any bells?”
Levi and Alex leaned in for a closer look, and there it was—a player called Fourteen, clearly marked as the team captain.
“That is the cocky kid!” Levi burst out. “The one who once underestimated us. Fate has a way of throwing rivals back together, and we’re going to crush them this time!”
With a smirk, Gifford looked at Levi and said, “Weren’t your issues with him resolved?”
“Well, crossing paths again in such a big world must be destiny,” Levi replied earnestly. “We still need to show them our strength.”
At that moment, Fernanda joined them to check the screen, amazed at how intertwined their paths were.
Could she possibly meet Fourteen in person?
She felt quite excited at the prospect of meeting someone she knew from the internet in real life.
The college league began on a perfectly clear and sunny day.
A gentle spring breeze chased away the remnants of winter’s chill, and the sky, a radiant blue, was adorned with fluffy, endless clouds. Merrily, birds darted through the air, their songs filling the morning. The event was hosted at a brand-new stadium in Esaham, a marvel of modern technology both inside and out, equipped with top-tier facilities.
“Who would’ve thought our small tournament would take place here?” Levi said, pushing up his glasses and rubbing his hands together excitedly. “There’s even a live stream. Maybe I’ll pick up some fans?”
Sloane quickly teased, “Dream on. Neal might draw some admirers, though. You know how it is with the young crowd and looks. How do you stack up in that department, Levi?”
Caught off guard, Levi struggled to find a comeback, feeling a sting from the tease.
He shot a look at Neal, who was dozing off, and clicked his tongue in mild annoyance.
