Chapter 257
As he spoke, Gregory thought of Trevor’s instruction from last night. He quickly
pulled out his phone and called Trevor.
“Mr. Marshall, Ned’s woken up!”
Ned mulled over the word “boyfriend” that Gregory mentioned.
He swallowed, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He wondered if Angeline’s boyfriend Gregory described was the father of her children.
Ned was ultimately the one who had sent her to someone else’s bed.
He had never even touched Angeline all those years because of the trauma that she had toward intimacy. Still, he had personally drugged her and delivered her into another man’s bed.
Ned clenched his teeth, cast off the blankets, and ran outside.
Gregory was still on the phone when Ned knocked him over. He turned back to see Ned rush out. He immediately hung up the call and began chasing after him.
“Ned!”
Gregory caught up to him at the hospital entrance and grabbed him.
“What are you doing? The doctor forbade you to leave!”
Ned tried to push Gregory’s hand aside, but he could not, no matter how he tried.
He yelled brokenly, “I want to see Angeline! I want my Angeline!”
Gregory stumbled and fell onto the steps. He frowned as he looked at Ned.
He realized Ned had indeed recovered his memories.
Gregory got up and grabbed Ned before he could run.
He asked, “Where will you go? Do you know where she is?”
Ned seemed to wake up from a dream. He paused before patting Gregory’s body all over to find a phone.
“Your phone! Give me your phone!”
“Ned!”
Gregory pushed his hand aside and grabbed his phone back.
“Angeline doesn’t want to see you at all! Do you know how much she detests you? She will block me immediately if you call her with my phone.”
Gregory’s angry voice finally calmed Ned down. He knew that Gregory was right.
He knew all too well about Angeline’s hate toward him.
Last night, Angeline had slapped him.
and grabbed him by his tie. The iciness in her eyes and her scornful smile was the same expression she had in high school when she faced
those who had called her trash.
Now, he was less than trash in her eyes.
“Where is she?”
IMS
Ned’s voice was choked. He looked pleadingly at Gregory and began crying so hard that he could not even stand up straight He stood bent, doubled over with his hands on his knees, sobbing incoherently.
“Help me locate her!”
Gregory licked his lips, and he softened.
He helped Ned up.
“Go back
n the hospital for y
checkup, and I’ll try to learn
about the situation. If moreet
willing to see you, then you can go
Ned looked up and grabbed Gregory’s hand tightly as if he were holding on to a
lifeline. He looked hopefully at him, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
“Will she still see me?”
“I don’t know
Gregory could not promise anything.
“But we can do our best and try.”
When Trevor arrived at the hospital room, Ned stared at Gregory as he called Angeline.
Gregory gripped his phone firmly as he warned Ned, “I’ll call her, but don’t make a sound! I don’t want her to block me because of you.”
“Okay!”
Ned nodded.
The call connected, and Gregory put the phone on speaker.
“Hello
Her voice was cold and crisp.
Ned could not hold back his tears any longer. He covered his eyes and leaned back against the sofa as tears streamed down his face.
When he heard Angeline’s voice, Ned felt deeply that he had no right to see her. Gregory glanced at him.
“Angeline, I was so busy with Ned yesterday that I don’t even know how you are. Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. How about you? I heard Marion say that you got beat up yesterday, too. Have you had your injury treated?”
