Chapter 379
Perhaps they hadn’t noticed, either.
Because deep inside, they didn’t think Angeline was on the same level as them.
It was a sense of superiority that they had been born with, which was why they had persuaded
Angeline to give up on Ned instead of telling Ingrid to leave Ned. They hadn’t advised Ned to treat Angeline gently, nor did they cooperate with Angeline when she was trying to tell Ned about their moving love story.
At this point, Angeline was in a position far beyond their reach, which prompted them to mention their past friendship with Angeline again. It was merely their instinct to ingratiate themselves with the stronger ones.
They had never been Angeline’s friends.
“So, Ned, are you planning to use Fletcher Corporation to make up for how much you once hurt Angeline? If so, I’ll tell the others not to waste their time trying to contact her. Then they won’t have a chance to use you and Fletcher Corporation to try and reach out to her.” Miles’ words were such an irony.
That was true. Many people wanted to use Fletcher Corporation and Ned to contact Angeline and see if they would have a chance to collaborate with Lawson Global.
After all, Angeline’s status was now different from theirs. She towered above all of them.
If they were going to make an effective connection with Angeline, using the fact that they had grown up together, or using Ned and Fletcher Corporation, would give them an opportunity. They wouldn’t have to humble or lower themselves either. It was the easiest way to succeed.
They were all adults now, and their friendships were no longer as pure as they had been in childhood. It was now just a tool for them to gain profits for their companies.
…
It was the first time that Angeline had come to a government department for a meeting. Sean dutifully introduced everyone to her.
Now that Angeline’s identity as the founder of Vitality Biotech Group had been revealed, Lawson Global introduced her as such.
Several people were amazed at the idea of Sean and Angeline forming a strong alliance at Lawson Global. It would surely bring the company to new heights.
After they left the building, Jamie walked up to Angeline with an armful of documents and said that the day after tomorrow, Scott Incorporated would be coming to sign the contract with Lawson Global.
Then Jamie said to Angeline in a low voice, “Ms. Lawson, I received a lot of calls this morning from your former friends. All of them said they couldot contact you and that they had things to discuss with you. I’ve recorded their names and numbers. Would you like to look through them?”
Angeline took the tablet from Jamie and glanced at it. Then she handed it back. “There’s no need for that.”
They were all her so-called “friends” from Oceanford, and there was no need to contact them again.
She glanced at her watch and turned to Sean, who was instructing Taylor on the main points that he needed to deliver when they got back to the office. Should we ask them to deliver lunch from home or should we eat out? We have to let the housekeeper know.”
“Let’s eat out!” Sean turned around and said to Angeline, “We can let Taylor and Jamie go back to the office first.”
Taylor closed the documents he was holding and smiled as he answered, “Okay, we’ll leave the car for you and Ms. Lawson. I’ll take Jamie’s car back.”
Angeline told Lenny to follow them behind, then she got in Sean’s car.
“Mr. Millstone has assigned more people to monitor Helen, and the old Lawson residence has been instructed to bar Helen from entertag.” Sear, helped Angeline put on her safety belt. He comforted her gently, “Since Helen returned to the country, she has been relying on Mr. Webb’s son, Winston. Now that
Winston is also in trouble, Helen
can’t do much on her own.”
