Chapter 352
“Take her out of here! Are you deaf?” Robert yelled at Asher.
Afraid that Robert might accidentally hurt Angeline, Sean quickly got up by
supporting himself on the coffee table, pulled her into his arms, and dragged her to the kitchen.
“Wait here,” he said, comforting her while holding onto the back of her head.
“Be good.”
He then looked toward Asher and instructed, “Watch her until I return.”
Asher nodded in acknowledgment.
After Sean left to return to the living room, he said to Angeline, “Ms. Angeline, I’ve been working for Mr. Lawson Senior for decades. So, please heed my advice. The more you try to defend Mr. Lawson now, the angrier he will get.
“Based on his character, he will surely hear you out, but you must let him let off some steam first.”
Remembering the cane that landed heavily on Sean’s back earlier, she closed her eyes and held onto the kitchen counter to support her weight. She pursed her lips, her heart brimming with many regrets.
She had forgotten her place of late. She knew how things would have ended if people learned about their relationship, yet she allowed herself to be complacent.
Meanwhile, Sean returned to the living room and kneeled before Robert, whose face remained angry.
Robert asked, “So, you’d rather take a beating from me than break up with Angeline?”
“I owe you my life, and I know doing this is unfair to you. All my life, I’ve wanted very little. But Angeline is what I want to fight for with all my might,” Sean answered.
Robert started feeling pain in his chest from the rage that consumed him, and he gripped his cane tightly.
“Have you thought it through? Do you truly love Angeline, or are you chasing after the feelings she had for Ned back then?”
“There’s no difference,” Sean replied, looking up at Robert, the sparkling crystal chandelier above reflecting his profound features.
“I have loved Angeline even before
Ned came into the picture! I don’t care how much
before this, fer relationship wi him only delayed my relationship with her. It did not change anything he continued.
she loved one
else,”
“You care so much about your relationship, but have you thought about the Lawson family?” Robert questioned.
“Sean Lawson will disappear from this world…” Sean refuted.
“Do you think people won’t recognize you when they see this face of yours? Are you
trying to deceive yourself?” Robert said, tapping his cane on the floor.
“What about your affairs with the Kingston family if you were to leave the Lawsons? Since you claim to love Angeline very much, do you not care for her and the children? How can you selfishly prioritize your feelings and insist on being with her? Aren’t you afraid of dragging them down with you?”
“I am afraid! But I’m more afraid of losing them!” asserted Sean as he stared into
Robert’s eyes.
He continued earnestly, “Whether
you see me as selfish or not, I won’t
use the fear of them getting hurt as
an excuse to leave them. I have the confidence and ability to protect them, so I won’t push Angeline away. Once I do that, I will lose her forever. I just know that.”
Once he abandoned Angeline, he believed she would follow Robert’s arrangement and meet those rich young men soon after. She would end up marrying one of them and live an average life ever after.
Just imagining her making eye contact with another man and holding hands with him was unbearable for Sean, let alone seeing her wearing a wedding dress and marrying another man.
“Angeline loves her mother and you too much. So, if I hadn’t trapped her by my side before leaving the Lawson family, she would obediently follow all your arrangements,” he said with a terrifyingly calm tone.
“I must be with Angeline. She’s rightfully mine.”
