Chapter 312
Angeline followed Sean into his office. As soon as they were inside, Sean told Taylor, “Wait outside. Don’t let anyone in here.”
“Yes, sir,” Taylor said.
Once Taylor shut the door, Sean pulled Angeline into his arms as he leaned against the desk. Even with his glasses in the way, she could see the pulsing desire and emotions in his eyes. Yet his expression was serious and cool.
She put her hand against his chest; her ears burned from his attentive stare. “What’s wrong?”
He tucked her hair behind her ear. His tone was dangerously possessive as he said, “I’m trying my best to control myself.”
“What?” Angeline was a little confused.
“I can stand others looking up to you, but I don’t like it when the looks become coveting or challenging.” It was clear from Sean’s tone that he was holding himself back.
Before sleeping with Angeline, or even before she’d confessed her feelings for him, he would’ve been able to control himself. However, after Angeline agreed to continue with their relationship…
After he’d clearly told Angeline how horrifying and monstrous his desire to possess her was, she hadn’t been disgusted or contemptuous. In fact, her eyes had been bright, and her gaze seemingly happy.
From then on, Sean found that his protectiveness, possession, and need to control Angeline was growing. Angeline wasn’t doing anything to stop it, and the beast in him was slowly turning into a monster.
During the earlier meeting, the looks the senior executives had given Angeline had grated on Sean’s nerves. Several heartless, cruel thoughts had formed in his mind.
This was especially so when he saw the challenging or mean sentiments beneath the senior executives’ respectful masks. Sean had wanted to smash their heads against the table so badly that no one would dare look at Angeline in contempt.
He had to admit that he’d considered locking her up and keeping her all to himself.
If she’d rejected him, he knew he would’ve done it.
As he’d told Angeline, his desire to
possess and devour her was
dangerous and dirty beyond her imagination. He’d also had several ridiculous and horrific fantasies about her. For instance, he’d thought about binding her so he was the only one she could see and hear.
At the same time, he would be the only one to enjoy her and everything about her;
he could force her to fall in love with him.
Angeline stared into Sean’s eyes. After a brief daze, she moved her hands from his chest to wrap them around his waist. Looking up at him, she smiled innocently Well, you con flock me up and stop me from seeing other people, can you?”
Sean didn’t say anything. He stared into her eyes as he combed his fingers through
her hair. His Adam’s apple bobbed.
Indeed, he’d had such thoughts. He knew he couldn’t do anything about them, though.
Right from the start, he knew Angeline was a diamond that deserved its time in the limelight. He couldn’t tie her down with his ugly desires.
Loving someone wasn’t about satisfying one’s selfish and twisted inclinations.
