Chapter 252
Hadn’t Ned gone to see Angeline today? Had Angeline said something to him?
Or had Ned recovered more of his memories?
Ingrid’s mind was buzzing.
A ding sounded.
When the elevator stopped, Sean took Angeline’s hand and walked out.
Ingrid’s assistant was displeased.
“Who is that? How could she ignore you when you greeted her first?”
Sean walked over to the car and pulled open the door on the passenger’s side. He gestured for Angeline to get in.
Conversely, Angeline walked to the driver’s side and opened the door for him.
“You’ve been drinking, and your hand is injured. I’ll drive.”
“Let’s go to my place,” Sean said after he got in the car.
Angeline drove out of the underground garage and looked sideways at Sean, who had removed his mask and was leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed. She felt that she should offer him an explanation.
“Today, three of my friends from Cloudsville College visited Krontos. They’ll be returning tomorrow, so we had dinner together. One of them is Gregory, Ned’s cousin. After dinner, Gregory invited us to the Night Palace to have some fun.
“We didn’t expect to run into Ned there. Maybe Ned showed up intentionally, but I ultimately had a private chat with him. He wanted me to let Ingrid’s manager off, but I refused.”
Sean thought about the quiet street near the Night Palace filled with parked cars, and how Angeline had been almost nose-to-nose with Ned when she grabbed his collar.
He clenched his teeth, making his jawline look even more pronounced.
“Where’s Lenny?”
Sean’s voice was low and husky.
“After dinner at the restaurant, I felt sorry for him because he had been waiting in the car all night, so I told him to go home and rest.”
Angeline flicked her turn signal on.
“I truly had no idea that something so unexpected would happen. Don’t blame Lenny. I was the one who told him to leave.”
“You’re so thoughtful.”
Sean’s tone was expressionless, and Angeline couldn’t understand his
implication. All she could do was stare straight ahead and focus on driving.
“Why were you at the Night Palace tonight? Were you having a business discussion?” Angeline asked tentatively, casting around for a topic.
“Yeah.”
It was obvious that Sean did not feel like talking, so Angeline turned up the heat and drove home in silence.
Angeline did not know Sean was trying to prevent his thoughts from getting out of hand. He closed his eyes and avoided looking at her.
When he had seen Angeline pull Ned
closer to her by his collar, he
regretted giving her time until Robert’s birthday party. He wished he badused any means
imaginable no matter how extreme or despicable-to force her to stay with him and make her fall in love with him.
Sean raised his hand to loosen his tie and unfastened the top two buttons on his shirt.
He admitted that he was jealous.
He also admitted that he had lost control because he was jealous.
However, since Sean had promised to give Angeline time, he had to stick to his word.
After all, this decision would affect their future.
“Is it too warm?”
“Yeah,” Sean answered vaguely.
Angeline lowered the temperature.
The car drove into a neighborhood of villas in the city, which was a costly area.
Angeline parked the car in the garage of a detached villa. The garage door descended slowly to close.
She looked sideways and saw that
Sean seemed to be asleep. She carefully leaned in close to help him
unfasten his seatbelt and carefully
grabbed the belt to guide it back into place.
Before she could let it go, Angeline’s tiny waist was encircled by Sean, and he
pulled her over onto his lap.
The safety belt rebounded with a soft sound and hit the car wall.
