Chapter 407
“So? What’re you going to do about me?” Brayden arrogantly leaned back onto the couch with his legs crossed and arms on the back.
“I know you grew up abroad, Mr. Green. But are you aware of how strict our government is in cracking down on organized crime?” Angeline said with a stern look.
Brayden mocked, “Are you trying to scare me?”
“That’s just child’s play. Against you? I prefer something more serious,” Angeline said.
Suddenly, Brayden’s phone rang.
Angeline raised her eyebrows. “Go ahead. Pick it up.”
Brayden narrowed his eyes. He disliked being ordered by people.
He put down his leg and picked up the phone. “You’d better tell me something important for calling me at this hour. Otherwise, I’m going to break your leg!”
Brayden’s expression shifted as he listened to the phone. He looked toward Angeline with gloomy eyes.
After a brief silence, Brayden said through gritted teeth, “Alright. It’s okay. Just figure out how to bail them out.”
Brayden sneered at Angeline after hanging up the phone. “You’re really something, Angeline. However, you merely messed up the Night Palace’s business and arrested my subordinates. That’s not my only source of income anyway.
“It’s Shane who needs the place to gather information. It doesn’t matter to me!”
“Which is why this is just a warning,” Angeline said. She could roughly guess why Brayden had drugged Sean now.
She grabbed the whiskey glass that Brayden served and cheered, “Next time, it won’t be this simple.”
Angeline got up and left after putting the glass down.
Brayden was probably trying to get Sean to sleep with Melissa so that he could be with Melissa when he returned to the Kingston family.
“Melissa isn’t like other women, Angeline,” Brayden said with a low voice. “They’re childhood friends, and she loves Shane deeply! Shane already has trouble separating from younow that he’s still Sean Lawson. What will happen if he resumes his identity as Shane Kingston and
stops contacting you to protect you? .net “Do you think
khe
won’t fall in love
with Melissa when they’re together? After all, although she’s as pretty as you appearance-wise, she’s from a decent family. And even though Trustworth Group’s scale is no match to Lawson Global’s, she’s a true aristocrat. She’ll be strong opponent to you Angeline Can Shane keep himself under control? Men will be men. They can’t hold onto themselves for long.”
Melissa Lane…
Angeline recalled reading about the meaning of the name Melissa, and the word meli signified “honey.”
Melissa was the only daughter of Trustworth Group. It was no surprise that her
family would raise her like their sweetheart. Compared to Angeline, who was born in Emmerson Village, most people would believe someone like Melissa would be a better match for Sean.
However…
“So what you’re trying to say is, men’s brains are between their legs, and women’s strengths are based on their family background and appearance? Angeline looked back at Brayden and chuckled. “You’re so naïve. I guess you’ve never experienced love before, have you?”
Seeing Brayden’s smile fade, Angeline gave a cold laugh and glared at him before
entering the elevator with Lenny.
