Chapter 378
This time, however, Fletcher Corporation had gone down because of Vitality Biotech Group. It would only be natural for one to wonder if this was Angeline’s vengeance on Ned.
“Look, things aren’t at their worst yet. I just spoke to Zachary. He’ll think of a way to contact Angie, and we’ll try to get to her too. We all grew up together, so we’ll try to persuade her to leave Fletcher Corporation with a chance at survival.” Miles patted Ned on the shoulder.
Something about his words got on Ned’s nerves. Ned shoved Miles’ hand away and glared at him with bloodshot eyes. He roared, “Don’t you guys dare stick your noses into my and Angie’s business. I haven’t forgotten about you guys forcing her to leave me!”
He hadn’t forgotten how his so-called friends had circled Angeline and convinced her to leave him after he’d lost his memories. She’d just woken up from her coma, too.
Miles was taken aback. “Be reasonable, Ned. You were head over heels for Ingrid at the time. Angie’s our friend too, and we couldn’t just stand by and watch as you hurt her like that.
“Yes, you guys were once in love and willing to give up your lives for each other. But do you think she wouldn’t be hurt by the things you did to her? Do you think we didn’t feel bad when we saw things were playing out?
“Do you think we didn’t feel torn, being caught between you and her? At the time, what else could we do aside from persuading Angie to leave you?”
“I may have lost my memories, but you guys didn’t! You guys claim to be Angie’s friends, so how could you accept Ingrid so easily? How could you compare Ingrid and Angie?
“Didn’t it occur to you how betrayed Angie would’ve felt when you guys told her to give up on me while showing her how well you guys got along with Ingrid? She must’ve been doubly disappointed by her friends and lover at the time!
“You guys know how insecure Angie is! Imagine how much pain she would’ve been in after learning everyone had betrayed her after waking up from a two-year coma!” Ned shouted.
Miles pursed his lips as he watched Ned break down in tears. He knew all of this, of course. They all did. None of them had expected Angeline to wake up from her coma, though. That was why they’d accepted Ingrid without any prejudice.
That was why they’d felt conflicted when Angeline had refused to let Ned go upon waking up from her
coma. They’d taken into account
everyone’s emotions except Angeline’s. They hadn’t thought about the harm their words would bring to her.
Perhaps, once upon a time, Angeline had genuinely thought of them as her friends.
But the day and hour she and Ned had gotten divorced…
Angeline hadn’t just forgone her marriage to Ned. She’d also given up on her friendships with them.
Miles had been with Angeline and Ned when they’d gotten divorced. At the time, he could tell from her distance and aloofness that she’d truly fed the past go. She’d let go of the relationship and friendships she’d tried so hard to hold on to.
So, it was hard to tell whether their so-called friendship was something Angeline still
cared about. She’d always been the aloof type.
Miles’ expression didn’t look too
good. He smiled self-deprecatingly and said, “Maybe we did once consider ourselves Angie’s friends. But were more your friends who befriended her because of you.
Then, we watched as she became your girlfriend.
“Perhaps it’s because of that that we automatically assumed anyone who’s your girlfriend is also our friend. I don’t think we even realized what we were doing!”
