Chapter 364
“Well, it wasn’t exactly easy. Ms. Lawson has already met with Ms. Lara of Scott Incorporated, the person in charge of the project, several times. They only came to an agreement over coffee earlier.” Jamie smiled.
As he hurried away, he said to the colleague from the legal department, “Remember to send the contract to me once you’re done reviewing it. We have to send it to Scott Incorporated.”
“Don’t worry. We won’t delay Ms. Lawson’s work!”
Gary was surprised when he heard the news. He and Yvonne were headed into the elevator to the basement parking lot.
When he saw they were alone there, he said in a low voice, “It looks like Ms. Lawson’s better at this than she seems!”
Yvonne rummaged through her bag for her keys.
She laughed and said, “But you still think Mr. Lawson’s better, don’t you?”
“Of course! Think about how long Mr. Lawson’s been around here.” Gary chuckled.
“He’s also the one who led Lawson Global through challenge after challenge-he even overcame Marvonia’s sanction!
“As for Ms. Lawson… women will eventually have to get married and start a family, don’t they? I heard Mr. Lawson Senior is interested in the scion of Hooper Group- the widowed one for her. I bet it won’t be long before Ms. Lawson has to settle down and get married.”
Yvonne raised an eyebrow at his words. She turned to lean against the elevator wall with a smile.
She said, “Women eventually have to get married and start a family, huh? I don’t think I can agree with that, Mr. Xanders.
“Ms. Lawson hasn’t even been around for a week yet, but she’s already brought in two huge projects. Even if Vitality Biotech’s exclusive contract with us is something she brought upon joining the company, what about this one with Scott Incorporated?
“Mr. Lawson is engaged to Ms. Monica of Scott Incorporated, you know. Here’s a piece of advice, Mr. Xanders-you’ll lose out if you look down on women!”
When Gary realized he’d stepped on Yvonne’s tail, he chuckled.
“Sorry, sorry. I forgot to mention that you, Ms. Yancey, are different from other women.”
She looked into his eyes.
“I’m no different from them. All women are the same as men. It’s simply that society hasn’t allowed them to show what they’re truly capable of.
“Once such an opportunity arises, women, especially those like Ms. Lawson, will definitely show arrogant men how horribly wrong they are!”
The elevator arrived at the basement level with a ding. Yvonne waved her keys at Gary with a smile.
“See you tomorrow, then.”
Gary’s smile disappeared as he watched her strut out of the elevator while texting someone. He tugged his tie loose and followed her out.
Just then, he ran into Angeline and Lenny as they left the elevator meant for Sean’s use. Jamie was with them.
He said anxiously, “But Business Tomorrow rarely interviews anyone. If we accept the interview-”
“Ms. Lawson!” Gary said pompously.
Angeline nodded at him without slowing her steps.
She said calmly, “In what capacity am I being interviewed? As Vitality Biotech’s founder or Lawson Global’s vice president?
“If it’s as the founder, then I won’t do the interview But if it’s as the vice president, what’s there to interview when I’ve only gotten started? Turn them down!”
Gary raised an eyebrow at Angeline’s back. He wondered if she was arrogant or
plain stupid for turning down an interview with Business Tomorrow.
“Have Joe Johnston of Java Investment see me after tomorrow morning’s meeting. I don’t care what other appointments he has-tell him to postpone everything. Tell him someone else can take over for bilf if there’s anything he can’t postpone.”
This was what Angeline said to Jamie before getting into the car Her voice wasn’t loud, and she didn’t sound too emotional Still her words clearly conveyed her anger.
