Chapter 393
Angeline sat on the couch with her legs crossed and hands resting on her knees. Although she was seated, she had a condescending look at Ingrid that made the latter feel humiliated.
“Love is a matter for two people. You should never be the only one contributing to it,” Angeline advised. “I don’t think I’ve ever wronged Ned in our relationship. Plus, regardless of how he treated me, I protected him with my life during the accident. So, Ned is the one who owes me for causing me to be in a vegetative state.”
“But regardless, didn’t you love Ned before? How could you be so ruthless to Ned and leave no space for him? Is all your love for each other a mirage? Are you truly this heartless, Angie?” Ingrid cried, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Please, Angie. I’m begging you. I’m returning Ned to you. Could you let him go?”
Ingrid tried to pay for her mistakes. Everything started because Tommy was addicted to gambling, which dragged Yates Group, then Fletcher Corporation, into this mess.
Nobody knew how guilty Ingrid felt. She loved Ned so much that she was willing to give up everything for Ned to keep Fletcher Corporation.
“Please, Angie. Please…” Ingrid broke down on the couch with her hands covering her face.
Nonetheless, Angeline continued staring at the hysterical Ingrid with a calm look and sighed.
“If you’re here to talk about Norwalk Corporation or Lawson Global’s entertainment group canceling the collaboration with you, and you want to negotiate a win-win path with me, perhaps I would look highly of you,” Angeline said. “But I never expect you here to talk about Ned. Tell you something, Ms. Dalton. Humans, especially women, should never put love at the top of their minds.
“I was like you previously. Love should never be all of your life.”
It was true. Angeline was once like Ingrid.
Angeline had spent two years trying to make Ned recall his memory, but she chose to give up on him after failing to do so. She had even given up on herself when Ned forced fier to drink the drugged wine.
Luckily, it was Sean she was with back then. She couldn’t imagine what she would’ve become if it had been someone else.
Ingrid looked up at Angeline with teary eyes, confused about what she meant.
“Have you considered, with your
current fame in the entertainment
world, what would you lose for
vel
acting this crazy in my place because of a man? Have you considered Norwalk Corporation,
Wagreed to collaborate with. Lawson Global to keep you as their global ambassador?” Angeline said in disappointment. “If you love Ned, you wouldn’t care if Fletcher
Corporation is no more. You should grasp all your current resources and be Ned’s last resort and safe harbor.
“What you shouldn’t do, however, is come right before me, bawling to return a trash that I’ve thrown away and begging me to spare Fletcher Corporation!”
“Yes, I’m Vitality Biotech Group’s
tality
founder. But can’t just stop whatever I’ve already started,” Angeline continued. “If I were to stop right now, what would the people of Vitality Biotech Group think of me? How would the people of Lawson Global see me?
“They’ll think I’m a love-struck woman who would make their company lose profit. Then how could I stand my ground in Lawson Global and Vitality Biotech Group?”
Angeline stood up and took some tissues from the coffee table to Ingrid. “Business is war. There’s no space for love and friendship in war. Otherwise, you’ll be annihilated to nothing.”
