The words might not have been inappropriate, but at a wedding, they felt a tad out of place. The room fell silent for a moment, yet Elysia remained unfazed, smiling warmly at Amara.
Amara accepted the bouquet, gave Elysia a hug, and said, “Ely, you deserve all the happiness in the world. Remember to always love yourself p>
In a typical wedding, the emcee might tease the maid of honor a bit.
But knowing that this maid of honor was the ex-wife of the Everly family’s big shot, who also happened to be the best man, he decided against it. With just a couple of words, he ushered Amara off the stage.
The ceremony soon wrapped up, and Elysia carefully lifted her wedding gown as she descended from the stage. Amara was quick to help with the dress, and they, along with the wedding planner and others, made their way to the bridal suite. There, Elysia would change into her reception dress and get a new hairstyle before joining her husband in greeting their guests.
A knock echoed from the door as the makeup artist was just finishing Elysia’s outfit change. “Who is it?” she asked.
Dorian’s voice came from the other side, prompting the makeup artist to open the door.
Dorian strode in, ignoring both the makeup artist and Amara, who was lounging on the sofa. “Leave us,” he commanded, eyes fixed solely on Elysia.
In his gray suit and stylishly understated hair, Dorian looked dashing. Yet, a cold, almost aggressive aura surrounded him. Ever since he entered the room, his gaze hadn’t wavered from Elysia, exuding an intense aura that seemed unchallenged.
Elysia, however, appeared completely composed. She glanced at Amara in the mirror and said, “Ama, we need to get ready soon. I’m not up for a conversation right now p>
“Got it,” Amara replied, understanding at once. She stood and approached Dorian.
“Mr. Hawke, please step outside. Ely needs to prepare p>
Dorian clenched his fists, anger
flickering in his eyes. It had been et
days since Elysia had spoken to him properly or even wanted to see him. What was she playing at?
“Leave us,” he repeated, his voice firm. “Getting ready can wait p>
“But Ely doesn’t want to talk to you right now,” Amara responded bluntly. “Mr. Hawke, please go p>
Her straightforwardness made the room tense with awkwardness.
The makeup artist, unused to such scenes, huddled to the side, eyes downcast.
Dorian’s face twisted in confusion,
trying to comprehend what had
gone wrong. Just days ago, everything seemed fine. Now, with the wedding over, things felt strained.
He stayed silent, rooted to the spot.
Amara considered her options, then decided to push him gently by the shoulders, guiding him toward the door.
Dorian looked at her in disbelief, stumbling a bit as he reached the doorframe. “What are you doing?” he asked, steadying himself against the frame.
Amara, who used to fear him, had, gained confidence from their recent encounters. “I asked you to leave, but you wouldn’t, Mr. Hawked had no other choice. Sorry p>
With that, and amidst Dorian’s incredulous expression, she slammed the door shut.
Dorian stood in the hallway, the urge to punch the door surging through him.
