Finnian was overwhelmed with emotion.
He never considered that Amara might have feelings for him. There was a rush of excitement and joy, mingled with guilt and anger-though the anger was directed at himself.
He jumped out of bed and headed to the film set to find Amara, only to hear from Cedric Zade that she had finished work and gone home.
He dashed across the street to Maple Crest, standing at Amara’s door, and knocked loudly.

Amara opened the door, her expression anything but welcoming.
Finnian looked at her intently, then suddenly stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her.
Amara was taken aback, and immediately tried to break free. “Mr. Everly, what are you doing p>
Ever since she had taken off the mask, Finnian had kept his distance, not even making eye contact, let alone any physical contact.
Now, out of the blue, he was holding her-the contrast was so stark, it left her utterly bewildered.
Finnian loosened his grip slightly, staring into her beautiful eyes. “Amara, did you used to like me p>
Amara’s pupils widened in surprise.
Instinctively, she said, “No, Mr. Everly, don’t say such things p>
“You did like me p>
Finnian lifted her chin, gently brushing his thumb across it.
He watched her reaction closely. When he spoke those words, Amara’s eyes
betrayed her. She did like him, even if she wouldn’t admit it.
He pulled her back into a tight embrace. Amara felt a wave of sadness washing over her, tears almost spilling over.
She bit her lip hard, her voice sharp. “Let me go p>

“Yes! I did like you once, so what p>
Now that Finnian had figured it out, denial seemed pointless. After all, it was in the past.
“You were gone for three years… Of
course, you weren’t wrong. Our marriage was just a deal, and you had no obligation to act like a husband. But your absence hurt me, and over time, my feelings faded p>
“Mr. Everly, I don’t want to dwell on the past. It’s all over now p>
Amara’s words felt like a cold bucket of water over Finnian, his excitement and joy ebbing away, leaving only an ache.
He released Amara slightly. “So you’re saying you don’t have feelings for me anymore p>
“Yes.” Amara clenched her fists, saying, “Even though you provided for me financially, from an emotional standpoint, you weren’t good to me. And recently, there were all those things with Ms. Porter p>
“Think about it, after everything that’s happened, how could I still have feelings for you p>
Finnian’s heart sank, as if plunged into icy water, numb and cold.
Of course, after everything, how could Amara still like him?
It was almost laughable that he had only come to realize his feelings for Amara
after all those events. Fate was truly fickle.
