“But then the news about Ms. Sullivan’s pregnancy came out, and it turned out she conceived four months ago—which matches exactly the day you brought her into your room.”

“I counted back, and it’s clear the baby Ms. Sullivan is carrying is yours. That child is proof, so I went to talk to Ms. Sullivan about it.”

“I told Ms. Sullivan that I saw her go into your room that day, and if she ever wanted to tell you the truth, I could testify for her.”

Tina blurted it all out in one breath, her voice nearly hoarse.

She was so nervous in front of Finnian that she poured out everything she knew, not daring to leave out a single detail.

Finnian asked, “You told Amara you could be her witness, but she turned you down, didn’t she?”

Tina nodded. “Ms. Sullivan said she didn’t need to bring it up, and she also told me not to tell anyone else.”

“But last night I saw Mrs. Emma Everly accusing Ms. Sullivan of being pregnant before marriage. Mrs. Emma Everly even called her child illegitimate and said Ms. Sullivan was an immoral woman. I just couldn’t stand it anymore, so I tried to persuade Ms. Sullivan to tell everyone the truth. I never imagined things would get so out of hand.”

Thinking about what happened yesterday, Tina looked like she was about to cry again. She genuinely felt guilty towards Amara.

Finnian nodded. “You did the right thing. It was important for you to speak up.”

If it hadn’t been for Tina, would he have spent his whole life unaware of the truth, and gone through with marrying Liliana today, oblivious to it all?

At the thought, a shadow crossed Finnian’s face.

He said, “Your name’s Tina, right? You’ll get an extra bonus at the end of the year. I’ll let the estate manager know-you just wait for him to contact you.”

With that, Finnian turned and left.

He walked swiftly through the Everly family guest wing, his face darkening with

every step.

Amara had saved him that night when he was drugged, slept with him, and now she was pregnant with his child, but afterward had insisted on a divorce and never mentioned what happened. Clearly, she never wanted him to know the truth.

Amara really wanted to make a clean break, so when Tina offered to testify for her, she refused.

The thought made Finnian uncomfortable, and his steps quickened as he left the wing.

That night, Amara stayed at Elysia’s place. The two of them ordered some takeout for dinner, and then watched a comedy together, which lifted Amara’s spirits.

Around ten o’clock, just as they were getting ready for bed, Elysia’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen and nudged Amara. “It’s Finnian. Should I answer?”

Elysia already knew Amara had blocked Finnian’s number, so he must have called Elysia directly after failing to reach Amara.

Seeing Finnian’s name appear on the caller ID, the good mood Amara had just found evaporated instantly.

She frowned, took the phone, and stepped onto the balcony. “Hello? What do you want?”

Finnian didn’t sound surprised to hear Amara’s voice. “I want to see you,” he said. “There were too many people around earlier, and there are things we need to talk about. Can we meet somewhere to have proper conversation?”
