Chapter 905
She endured the heavy silence until the recording ended, quickly locking her phone and lowering her head.
“Mr. Everly, I came here specifically to tell you this.”
“I knew she was planning to terminate the pregnancy, and it sounded like she was doing it completely behind your back. I felt you had the right to know… That’s all I came to say. I’ll take my leave.”
With that, she turned and hurried out of the office, her heart pounding against her ribs.
Her reason for snitching was simple. As long as Finnian rushed over to stop the procedure, Amara would naturally assume Dorian was the one who leaked the secret. Amara would despise Dorian for it.
Since Amara and Elysia were practically sisters, Elysia’s hatred for Dorian would skyrocket, perfectly fulfilling Jessica’s goal.
As she walked down the corridor, a deafening crash erupted from the office behind her, like heavy furniture being violently overturned.
Even through the thick oak doors, the sheer violence of the sound made her flinch. Terrified of the fallout, she picked up her pace and practically sprinted toward the elevators.
Today was the day of the late-term abortion procedure. Bright and early, Amara and Elysia arrived at Wye General Hospital.
They navigated to the surgical wing, taking their seats on one of the long benches lining the corridor. The hallway was already filled with women waiting their turn.
Amara’s number was further down the list. She sat close to Elysia, her fingers nervously twisting the medical slip, waiting in heavy silence.
The tension was etched across Amara’s face. A thick cloud of sorrow seemed to hover over her.
Elysia reached out and squeezed her hand. “Don’t be sad. You can always have kids in the future.”
Amara looked up, her voice trembling. “Ely, I’ve already made my choice, but I’m realizing how hard it is to let go. I wanted this baby so much. When I first found out I was pregnant, I was genuinely overjoyed…”
As she spoke, her eyes grew red.
She hadn’t shed a single tear since making the decision. But sitting here outside the operating room and overwhelming wave of reluctance and deep guilt crashed over her.
She wanted to break down and sob, but she refused to allow herself that luxury.
She was an adult. She had to own the consequences of her choices.
She had already decided to end the
pregnancy, so what was the Pet
crying it would only
nake the
heartbreak worse.
She bit her lip hard, forcing back the burning tears, desperately trying to maintain her composure.
Seeing her friend in such agony, Elysia’s heart broke. She tightened her grip on Amara’s hand.
“If you need to cry, just cry. Don’t bottle it up. It’s a devastating thing to go through.”
“Look at me I didn’t even want my
baby at first. I was never the
maternal type, and finding out- Dorian slept with Jessica made me furiously reject the idea of carrying his child
“But even then, when I came in for the procedure, I almost broke down.”
“At the end of the day, it’s a piece of you. Losing it so suddenly is bound to hurt.”
“So Ama, if you’re hurting, just let it out. You’ll feel better once you cry.”
Elysia gently rubbed her shoulder. Amara nodded silently and buried her face in Elysia’s neck.
A few minutes later, Amara sat up straight. She wiped her eyes and forced a small, fragile smile.
