Chapter 943
Finnian stood fiercely protective of Amara, absolutely refusing to let anyone disrespect her in his presence.
He leveled a cold, disdainful stare at Edith, appearing completely dominant and unfazed, though beneath the surface, his nerves were strung tight.
He kept a hawkish watch on her, ready to tear down any further insults she dared to hurl.
Tucked safely behind him, Amara could feel the tension radiating off Finnian. Hearing him defend her so passionately sent an undeniable ache straight to her heart.
Just moments ago, when Edith’s vicious attack had left her speechless, she had felt so incredibly wronged and furious.
The older woman’s insults were vile, but the undeniable fact remained that Keith had saved her. Even though she knew the accusations were unfair, she hadn’t dared to fight back, forcing herself to swallow the humiliation alone.
Yet, when she needed it most, Finnian had appeared, stepping in front of her like an immovable fortress, shielding her from the storm.
In that very moment, as much as she loathed to admit it, Amara felt an
overwhelming sense of safety.
“The two of you… you…”
“You’re clearly two of a kind!”
Stunned into near silence, Edith settled for shooting a venomous glare at Amara before aiming her rage at Finnian.
Then she said, “Amara, Finnian, if you two are so obsessed with each other, just get back together already and stop ruining my son’s life!”
“My boy was perfectly fine! What did he ever do to deserve being dragged through the mud by the likes of you?”
Finnian frowned deeply. “I
sympathize with Keith’s situation but neither of us ruined him. The only person responsible is the criminal who’s currently sitting in a holding cell. Get your facts straight.

His tone had been remarkably measured just moments ago, but now, while still perfectly controlled, it carried a razor-sharp edge.
Finnian possessed a naturally imposing aura, and when he leveled his unyielding gaze on someone, the sheer intimidation factor was suffocating.
Despite Edith’s years of ruthless experience navigating the corporate world, she couldn’t suppress a genuine flicker of fear.
She ground her teeth together, maintaining her furious glare, but kept her mouth firmly shut.
Seeing her back down, Finnian took Amara’s hand and spoke in a low voice. “Let’s not stay here. We’ll wait down the hall.”
Edith and Nathan were Keith’s
parents, so they naturally had to wait right outside the doors. Amara was obviously going to be miserable standing next to them and Tinnian refused to let her endure that kind of
toxic environment.
Amara hesitated. She was worried sick about Keith and desperately wanted to stay close, making her reluctant to leave the spot.
Catching on to her thoughts, a
twinge of jealousy pinched Finnian’s chest. He shifted his grip to her wrist, his tone leaving no room for argument. Im not taking you out of the hospital. We’re just moving to the next corridor.”
“As soon as he’s out, I’ll bring you straight back to see him. Alright?”
Even though he phrased it as a question, Finnian was already guiding her away before she could answer.
His strides were steady and strong. As she followed his lead, an unexpected sense of total reassurance washed over her.
Staring at his broad back, she was struck by the sudden realization that this man could shield her from the fiercest of storms.
Wait, no… what was she thinking?!
